"The entire process was a mess. I found Ashley when she called me after I had sent a Zillow inquiry about a place in Westchester. I was planning a move across states and looking for a new home in the area. Ashely is very nice, but I don’t feel like she was looking out for anything other than her commission check. We found a townhouse I liked and based on her confirmation of property taxes I made an offer that was accepted. One business day before the inspection I found out that she had made a mistake confirming the taxes and missed a village tax, which increased the monthly tax payment by $500 dollars a month. I went through the inspection (she kept harassing me throughout the day prior to the inspection to confirm so she could confirm with her inspector that we were on or cancelling when I didn’t have time to process what her mistake would mean for me financially). I was trying to find a way to lower the payment to be more in line with what I was planning on when I made the offer. The day of the inspection the inspector that she had recommended to me looked at her seemingly every time I asked a question as if he were getting approval from her before he answered. You could tell that their relationship wasn’t strictly professional. I ended up walking away from the property between her mistake and a few of the major ticket items were at their life expectancy. I was afraid that I might be getting into a position I would have to spend more than what I was comfortable spending- although in hindsight I am now on the hook for an even larger payment with the mistakes that would happen with the next property. I found another place where I was told by the listing agent at the open house I attended that the deck (which I could tell needed to be replaced/repaired) was already paid for. I got an accepted offer and I hired the attorney Ashley recommended asking him to confirm with the property manager that the deck was in fact paid for as well as get the financials for the association, which she knew I wanted both items as well. I went with a different inspector Ashley recommended and he missed rotting wood in the dining room and a leak that my flooring guy that I hired after I closed to do work on other floors found in five minutes. I was disappointed, but I figured mistakes happen. Then I found out that there is an issue with the roof work that has been done in the association and that it has cost 20k to make repairs to one unit. Another unit went for a sale a couple of months after I closed on my place and the roof came up in the inspection that buyer did. There were no issues with the roof noted in my inspection report. That makes two big ticket items Ashley’s inspector missed. Going back to the deck project and financials- I didn’t get the financials until right before I had to close when I started calling the property manager. Ashely nor my lawyer got them despite me telling them that not only did I want them, but my mortgage company was also requiring them before they could approve the loan. They both put the blame on my mortgage company and the property manager. Ashley went as far as to insinuate that this was my fault because I didn’t go through her referred mortgage company. I found out on my own (after I closed) that the deck project was not paid for. The result is a quarterly assessment of $4,200 for the next seven quarters. I don’t have the bill for what the roof project with set me back, but it is safe to assume it won’t be a small amount of money. I would never recommend using Ashely or any of her referrals. Ashley also told me agents don't go to the close anymore and so we said our goodbyes at my last walk through. She even left me in the property by myself while I was trying to confirm the AC was working as that couldn't be tested during the inspection because of the outside temp- she didn't stay to help. The next day who was at the close but the listing agent. She got her check and was done. She isn’t looking out for you- she is looking out for her wallet. Save yourself the hassle and your wallet the expenses."
