"Marianne S.- Weddings and Baptisms, this review is for you & if I could give you zero stars I would. I recently called you sharing some great news that I was picked to be a godparent & when it came down to signing off on the Godparent/ Sponsor Eligibility form you gave me nothing but hell because I don’t live on Long Island anymore and haven’t attended church nor joined a new one but made all my commencements though Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church. I gave you very solid reason as to why there has been a gap period in my church attendance, like the fact that I moved during covid, and you told me covid is over & that this is what I get for moving away, and then there’s the fact that I had a baby who’s now three and you know who doesn’t want to listen to him scream for an hour because he’s somewhere he doesn’t want to be? The other people who are in attendance for church. People like you Marianne, are why I moved away, I refuse to surround myself with such negative people and I refuse to have my son grow up in a place where people are just jerks for no reason or better yet on some “god” like power trip. You told me no- you won’t sign the form because I am not a practicing Catholic, which is fine – you’re allowed to believe what you want, to you I might not be, but morals and my respect for others say otherwise. As for you, based on your poor horrendous attitude and your LACK of respect. I believe you should be at church daily & confessions weekly. You yelled at a third party, calling to inquire about me, you got snippy with my bother who was trying to gather the correct paperwork, you insulted me repeatedly, but we all continued to be nice to you. The sad part is, if I saw you on the street and you needed something, I’d probably help, because that’s the type of human being I was raised to be. But that doesn’t make me a “practicing” Catholic. I think what Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church and you fail to realize is that you don’t need to practice your religion in the four walls of a church. I practice my religion while at my dinner table, while walking along a trail path with a beautiful view of a sunrise or sunset. I practice my religion while I hear my son and my husband giggling in another room. And at the end of the day, God appreciates what I do to be a good human being & how I continue to believe. He’s not judging me like you because I don’t attend mass every Sunday or provide you with donation after donation in the little baskets. But, due to your actions, and the mess this has been along with the heartache you and this church has caused- I will no longer be a godparent. You blamed me for not being seen as a practicing Catholic, but I blame you and Ss. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Church, for having tunnel vision on what it really means to practice your faith & religion. I hope you all go home and look yourselves in the mirror and realize that this isn’t how you get people to want to be a part of this church or any Catholic church for that matter. Changes are happening, and the more people my age will stop attending because of how they are treated. As for you, Marianne, I truly hope you find peace in this life & life gets better for you. I will pray for you & hope that God understands that you don’t mean to be the nasty person you come off as. Please treat the future people better, I’m sure you don’t want to lose anyone on the church’s behalf."
