"This is realistically the only space to fly model airplanes, drones, or RC helicopters. This park is managed by the Staten Island modelers club, and it is encouraged to join the club if you'd like to use the field. There have been issues in the past with individuals dumping refuse near the field, as well as dog owners using the field even when active. If you're going to visit, if you're not recovering your plane, stay behind the orange fence. Also be aware there are a lot of tics in the area, do use DEET heavy bug spray. They're also many wild animals in the area, including a few resident stray cats. Please respect these animals."
"Last time I went, a whole group of gentlemen who fly their aircrafts there were annoying and harassing. 1st guy came up saying "go take your drone somewhere else. If you dont have an aircraft like ours, leave"..........Mind you these guys have a club. 2nd time I went there, the group was there again. Minding my own business, I met someone who flys drones to. Cool right? Until another guy came up and said "when we are flying, keep your drone over there. WAY over there. Wait till we leave". Mind you they had about 10 people bringing these planes on the field back to back and get annoyed with anyone bringing a drone. Saying they have rights to the park and ownership and rules and such. I thought it was public for all enthusiasts. They also mentioned that I needed their "club" membership card to fly there...........sorry but if someone doesn't say or do something about it, these men will just walk around thinking they own the whole park and the world. Sorry not sorry. Be careful with your kids to, cause they dont care saying anything to them either. Or the parent. The field is a great space to learn and practice for all ages, not men think they know it all. How can the FAA recommend this place when they don't know these people who are ruining the enjoyment of flying."
"Lots of space to fly planes and drones. Fields are clean and well taken care of. Parking area is large"
"Great club associated with this Air Field. Field is a bit small but we'll kept."
"Private Radio Control Airfield. Located within a Public Park but the RC Park is Private Club by Membership Only. Nice, small Airfield. The RC Pilots are very friendly. My complaint is not against the RC Club but the Parks Dept. is doing a less than adequate job of maintaining the Road leading into the RC Park. The Parking Lot is muddy, uneven and not well maintained, the Bulkhead and Steps are a Safety Hazard. Nevertheless, I enjoy going here."
