"It was the year of 1994. After working at Grand Prospect Hall as banquet waiter and drinking after work the sun shades were raised the next morning . I could hear my father telling me to get up and get ready for church. A solution had to be made. So, I and one other lady collected two hundred signatures to make an afternoon mass at St. Rose of Lima. Problem solved, five o'clock mass was conducted and I was able to attend church and sleep in later. I moved to Arizona so it's hards to say what happens there."
"It’s a big place with the greatest masses I enjoy, I really love it, feels great to be present and hear all the preachings."
"This is a beautiful church first and for most. We are polish immigrants who were super happy to find a Polish parish near our new place (over ten years ago). We got married here, again 13 years ago, our first daugther was baptized here. We were on and off like a lot of young working people. When it came to baptizing our second kid it was like jumping through hoops, we wanted out child to be baptized and become a Catholic and the staff was very rude and not helpful at all (we went to a parish in Greenpoint where I grew up and had 0 issues). Recently I reached out just to get some info about my daugther possibly doing her 2nd communion here. Oh my, Sister Maureen was so rude! I have no words about how sad and disheartening this was! She offered no help no information and straight up told me to go elsewhere (based on our address they are not our closest parish but the closest Polish speaking one which was important to me). There was a time we felt a part of this parish community, with picnics and beautiful masses and now we were basically told to eff off. I can’t imagine there are swarms of young families attempting to join parishes, maybe I am wrong, turning people away just seems like something that kinda goes against any religion classes I remember."
"This rating is based on a conversation regarding getting information on the requirements for Christening my child. So much for love thy neighbors. I do not belong to a parish and was willing to make this my parish if that’s what it took. I wasn’t given the chance because of where I lived. I didn’t know you had to live within a certain distance of a church in order to worship there. I have friends that live in LI and faithfully go to church in BK. The conversation left a bad taste in my mouth. It’s just sad."
"What a nasty racist parish. Wanted to get my daughter baptized and they refused to sign a document showing that my brother had received communion at their church. Their attitude is the reason why most people do not go to church. Lady of refuge is so much more diverse and accomidating."
