About the Business

Welcome to the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), located at 146 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301. As a dedicated local government office, we are committed to enhancing public safety and promoting successful rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals under our supervision.
At DOCCS, we take pride in our diverse and dynamic workforce, which is dedicated to improving corrections in New York State and beyond. Our team actively participates in cultural and community events, such as the 2024 Caribbean American Heritage Month celebration, where Sheila Samuels, Esq., delivered an inspiring keynote address on the theme "Celebrating Caribbean Contributions to American History, Culture, and Life."
Our commitment to inclusivity and diversity is further demonstrated through participation in events like the 2024 Capital PRIDE Parade and Festival, where Commissioner Martuscello and DOCCS staff celebrated unity and equality. We also support environmental initiatives, such as Governor Hochul's #25MillionTreesNY, with tree planting activities at our facilities across the state.
DOCCS actively honors the achievements of women in the field of corrections and community supervision. This year’s Women’s History Month Celebration featured Sing Sing’s Superintendent Marilyn Kopp as a keynote speaker, recognizing her significant contributions to the department. Additionally, we celebrated the accomplishments of four honorees in the areas of Career Advancement, Education, Community, and Organizational Impact.
Our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is highlighted through events like the Hudson Valley Women in Corrections and Community Supervision Conference, where thought leaders like Dr. Richardson-Melecio discuss the importance of intentional inclusivity.
Furthermore, we support the Governor of New York's power to grant clemency, offering executive pardons to individuals convicted of non-violent crimes at ages 16 and 17, provided they have maintained a crime-free record for 10 years.
Explore our website to learn more about our programs, initiatives, and the dedicated professionals who make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities across New York State.
