"Hello Bedford Stuyvesant Community. It is to my hurt and dismay that I post this . I was a member years ago of this historical and beautiful church family. Today I received a call back this holy establishment. To be greeted by the most nastiest and ungodly person with the ugliest disposition over the phone that I ever was introduced to before in my life . She is the pastors wife Ms Cousins . I reached out to be coddled in the arms of the lord and was told that in order for my children to be baptized it was strict guidelines , when asked can I speak to an elder whom could relate I was abruptly told the buck stops here and her disposition was totally shocking for such a famed woman of God . But that will not stop my Faith in the Lord and that his son died for the absolution of all mankind’s sin no matter race creed of financial. The God we serve has no boundaries for his love so I felt that if I want my children baptized the matter of me being an active member should not matter. What matters is that I want to have my children know the love of God and the works of his Son Jesus Christ. That he didn’t only die for the rich or well to do he died for everyone including me and you . Thank you but I will find somewhere else .Ms Cousins I’m sorry I can’t meet your criteria.Ms Cousins in reference to the call that’s not how the call went at all .I do admit that I asked questions on the call . But have a blessed day again just to let you know ,Thank you Ma’am for that information and all your blessings. But I would never try to berate or insult you I was just asking because I wanted to know what had to be done, I may have come off very harsh and rude I apologize for that and I wanted to know because I am an older lady of 48 years old born 1975 and I do have 8 children 1 grandbaby and I was just asking questions again . I didnt know anything about Executive Ministries First Lady was a term of endearment long ago I guess and I was never trying to insult you that’s a no no I already know not to do . I didnt mean and would never try challenge your authority at all. I apologize again if it was taken in the wrong way on my part towards you because maybe my presentation wasn’t good. Thank you."
"I have attended service as well enjoyed bible study with Pastor David Cousin teaching and doing a little”singing”. Both Revs David and Val Cousin are to be commended for the Church Anniversary Celebration. Prayers for a successful hosting of the New York Annual Conference."
"Wow! It's been 33 years since I stepped inside Bridge Street AME Church, and I'm still standing. My experience has been spiritually fulfilling and I have a great deal of affection for some of my missionaries. Women who possess wisdom and are not afraid to tell you what is right and what is wrong. Our current leadership is moving us to places that are both challenging and spirit-filled. Last Sunday, we celebrated our 258th church anniversary and it was a blessing to attend the worship service and hear Bishop McKenzie speak."
"I have been blessed to be a member of this historic congregation since June 1997. My two sons and I joined the same Sunday my husband preached his first sermon here. Twenty-seven years later, I am blessed to have been called to the ordained ministry after serving in senior level positions in higher education finance and administration at numerous colleges and universities in New Jersey and New York. Since 2012 I have been serving as the Executive Minister, working with the Women's Ministry, Youth Ministry, Class Leader Ministry, Missionary Society, and the Church Anniversary Committee. I am grateful for the members of this historic institution who have been diligent in not only attending church weekly, but giving generously and using their spiritual gifts and graces to sustain and grow the church. We celebrated 258 years of Christian service to the Bedford Stuyvesant and surrounding community on February 25, 2024 and we will continue serving those God has called us to serve until He calls us from labor to reward."
