"In 2003 I lived across the street at 397 Chauncey Street. I could visit anytime I wanted, the people had no issues showing me Ralph and Norton’s apartments. If you read The Honeymooner’s book by Jackie Gleason, it will show that in the beginning years of the show they used the address several houses down which is 358 Chauncey and then in later years they used 328 Chauncey. I lived @397 Chauncey, while I was living on the block I was visited both addresses 358 & 328. I must say the 358 Chauncey house still has lots of photos of Jackie and the other cast members while they were on the block. I don’t know if they changed it but 328 Chauncey has One Meter for the entire building. I was told they wanted to keep everything the same way. I just wish someone would buy the 328 Chauncey house and really take care of it like it was. Also if you read the book, Jackie said the producers didn’t want to use the name Bed Stuy Brooklyn for the show so instead they makes it seem like 328 and 358 Chauncey St. is in Bensonhurst, I was like come on, we all know that Chauncey Street isn’t, and never has been in Bensonhurst, but on the show Ralph always says they live in Bensonhurst, and all of their phone numbers on the show will start off as Bensonhurst.Lastly if you Google, you’ll see Jackie Gleason was born on the same block, but not in either of the houses he was born at 364 Chauncey St."
"Not his actual childhood home, his mom's death certificate says 358 Chauncey Street Common misconception"
"The address is 328 Chauncey st, but Google shows you 330 Chauncey st. 328 is the red house next to it."
"DO NOT GO THERE. This area is nothing but a disgusting ghetto now. Ralph would have been horrified to see what his home turned into."
"It's amazing that Jackie Gleason actually grew up here and used this address for the show. I love watching it and enjoy every episode even to this day. It's one of those shows that everyone will remember regardless that only 39 episodes was done before Jackie's disagreement with the network. Each show had it's own magic and so fun to watch may they all rest in paradise. Thanks guys for giving us such a memorable show ❤️ Trivia -- This beautiful building was built in 1906 and is made up of several beautiful apartments that rent from $1500 - $2400 a month with all units rented. You can find interior photos here on Google image search by typing in the address. I always enjoy looking at homes with history and this is one of them"
