Welcome to Our Church Community in Newark, NJ

Located at 201 Lyons Avenue, Newark, New Jersey, our church is a place of worship and community for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We warmly invite you to join us in exploring the teachings of Jesus Christ, whom we believe to be the Son of God and the Savior of the World. His love for us is boundless, and we strive to follow His example in all aspects of our lives.

Our Beliefs and Worship

While some of our beliefs are unique, we share a common faith in Jesus Christ’s life, ministry, sacrifice, and resurrection, which save us from sin, suffering, and death. Our Sunday services vary slightly between congregations but always include a main worship service called the "sacrament meeting." This gathering features songs, prayers, and sermons from different congregation members each week. The highlight of the meeting is partaking in the sacrament, akin to communion, to remember the Savior. Afterward, we offer classes for children, youth, and adults to further explore our faith.

The Temple Experience

For Latter-day Saints, temples hold a special place beyond regular church buildings. They are sacred spaces where members receive divine instruction and make eternal covenants with God. These promises include living the gospel, being faithful in marriage, and supporting one another. We believe families can be eternal, and much of the temple work focuses on strengthening these bonds. Marriages performed in the temple are meant to last beyond this life, and we provide opportunities for ancestors to receive blessings through sacred ordinances performed on their behalf.

Scriptural Guidance

Our faith is enriched by the teachings found in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, which together testify of Jesus Christ and His divine mission. The Book of Mormon, compiled by the ancient prophet Mormon, provides insight and guidance relevant to the challenges we face today. Both scriptures reveal God’s profound love for us and help us draw closer to Him.
