"We came in for the Sunday service and it was completely lovely. The community seems very open and friendly and the priests stay after the mass to talk to you and greet you. We loved the sermon given by father Bryan, it was bold and funny and loving. If we were New Yorkers, this would definitely be our parish! Thank you for a lovely experience!"
"Very nice old church and a must see when in NYC. It was my first time there with my mom and we enjoyed the Most Reverend Robert J. Brennan’s sermon because he was candid and has a great sense of humor and delivered a profound message. Too bad there was about 50 people this past Sunday and that many parishioners don’t attend possibly because there is live stream. The only issue is that there is no free parking and the only option is to take public transportation or pay for parking. I definitely recommend to visit when in downtown Brooklyn."
"The Cathedral Basilica is the First Catholic Church on Long Island, as well as the Dioscean Cathedral, and being in the Diocese of Brooklyn, I wanted to visit it. It's quite nice, but it's so devoid of detail. I can't imagine it being so white and Grey when it was new, maybe I'm wrong. The baptistry mosaic throws the entire interior off, and the altar rail is all but gone. So I'm not a fan of the lack of aesthetic detail and all the lack of color on the walls, but I love the architecture. Huge windows, the baldachin, and pretty architectural detail over where the side altars would have been, as well as the columns. The windows are beautiful, take a look! I will have to stop by at some point for Mass..."
"Quiet catholic sanctuary for prayers and contemplation, illuminated by Led lights adding emphasis to uncomplicated structure, regal architecture separating it from the ordinary. Noticeable signage with clear directions, equalized acoustics that sets mood for participation of parishioners, few but large statues, stations of the cross, just above eye level are attention-catching"
"One of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever seen. You can feel the spirituality and love of God in this blessed place. The mass was excellent. For us catholics, if you’re in Brooklyn on a Sunday don’t miss the mass here."
