"The J and Z platforms are fine, but the N and Q platforms are way too tight. The station always smells bad every time I go here"
"This time it was fair. Some police presence. Stench wasn't too bad. Usually stinks and super sketchy. NYC is run by complete incompetents, so be alert and be aware of the environment and people looking to harm you."
"Review in regards to travel on July 12th, 2022: Canal St. station is one of the biggest and busiest subway stations that connects multiple lines that help bring business to medical practices to private owner businesses to downtown corporate offices to tourist hotspots and cultural and historical landmarks. These stations, though consistently kept well get crowded quite a bit. With the disappearance of many businesses along the longest street on this island comes the continual disappearance of masks on these crowded station platforms and especially onboard where security, even cameras, are not present. Also, not an accessible station, whether for the yellow lines or ACE. Saw a woman struggling severely to just go down the stairs and especially not having an easy time making her way downstairs with her luggage. Concerned about the safety and health of all riders and disatisfied as a NY resident of over 20 years."
"Canal at Broadway is a major subway hub. People of NYC have a love / hate relationship with MTA. Late night R trains were unpredictable as express trains often replaced the R. I painted a portrait of the subway platform, when I was waiting for the R one late night for my series of 'Disappearing New York', which you can see on my website, kovalfineart dot com."
"An iconic subway station in NYC, the Canal st station on the yellow lines wich runs on broadway avenue from here (Chinatown and soho) up to Times Square. Outside the station, on each entrance, you can find several Chinese shops to buy gifts, souvenirs, luggage, fake jewelry, gloves, bags, umbrellas, and all the kind of stuffs imported from China you may found on a Chinese street market. You should bargain and probably will get a better price."
