Nothing comes easy it takes hard work... best wishes to all the members and leadership for the next 100 years....Mike power 28 year member. ..."
"I went there as directed, walked from the javits center, to sign up for out of state union worker. Got turned away, was told to come back another day for that. I flew home the next day. This whole ordeal snowballed out of control, being verbally attacked for not signing up, it took 3 months to get signed up. Chicago would never turn a fellow brother away, then chastise him for not coming in. Any time a person has to endure unprovoked attitude it takes a special kind of strength not to give it right back. Thankyou gor working with my B.A. to resolve this unessesary issue."
"My grandfather was a union carpenter for 45 years and always said "if it wasn't for the union he would have no pension, no nothing" My father was a member of L.U. 608 for 35 years and retired in 1993. He loved being a carpenter. He couldn't figure out how anyone would work without a union. I have been in the union since 1982. It's not easy work but with the ITC and continuous improvement in training and certification it's always looking to the future. The training you get is the best, there is no where else young people can get this sort of education. This is the training that's gets you through life, you learn a little about every part of the construction trade. This is the type of job that makes a house affordable, education for the children possible and a good pension in your senior years something to look towards after years of hard work. With the Union anything is possible."
