"I came across it on my way to Times Square, figured I'd give it a chance, and went in. All I saw were black and white photos from an esteemed photographer in the top two levels. The lowest level has maps and books about Ukrainian history. The uppermost level had photos from the war. I immersed myself in it all the try and get my money's worth. It is an enjoyable experience if nothing else. Came to say that, only to see it was better months ago. How disappointing."
"Maria Prymachenko's vibrant folk art beautifully captures Ukrainian culture and mythology."
"One of the quietest and most beautiful little museums in NYC. We were sad that the main exhibit was closed for a changeover to reopen in May but the two exhibits upstairs and downstairs were worth the trip. The work they do highlighting Ukrainian artistic talent and history and parsing it out post Soviet absorption and appropriation is valuable to obtain a better understanding of how Ukrainian art has evolved and continued to transform. I look forward to visit again in July when I return to see the main exhibit."
"Great little museum! We went to see Mariia Prymachenko exhibit which was pretty incredible! Nice friendly staff, cute gift shop. They have some good art books and a small library downstairs and a permanent collection of Ukrainian arts and crafts upstairs. Annual membership is only $50 while adult ticket is $15. Kids get free entrance. Recommend! For the full Ukrainian experience, stop by Veselka or Lys Mykyta for varenyky - just up a few blocks."
"It's a good museum although small. There are three exhibits--a large space on the ground floor, and two smaller spaces on the third floor and in the basement (both accessible by elevator, though there are no stairs to the basement). The staff at the museum were very kind. I really enjoyed the current exhibit of naive art by Maria Prymachenko. You will need about an hour to visit."
