Reviews
"Doesn’t respond to emails and has all comments and DMs blocked on social media. Why doesn’t he want to hear from his constituents?"
"Council Member Keith Powers said to me "It is time for the Landlords to Lose and the Tenants to Win". How do these words ever get spoken? An owner of a property has to have a job for at least 2 years, excellent credit, low debt and down payment and closing cost in order to qualify for homeownership. In addition their salary must support the cost of the property. All properties require maintenance and repairs. A tenant does not have that commitment or expectation to live in the same property. We should thank our homeowners for all of their contributions and support instead we are suffering with increased taxes, increased false home valuations and disrespectful tenant occupancy laws. What is the message? Why are my contributions to society disrespected, disregarded and why are my rights as a homeowner who made many sacrifices to obtain this home at risk. I purchased my home long before Sub Prime Loans became a thing for the masses. From 2001 - 2008 loans were offered to Blacks and Hispanics to opt in to homeownership. Then 2009-2015 these loans mostly foreclosed but prices never receded. Why? Why in 1940 a home was worth 10,000 and prices increased by 4-5% annually up until 2001. Then the prices doubled annually. SUB PRIME LOANS were and are the reason your home price is over inflated and now our children must live at home and a study proves 27-40 year olds can't afford to live without their parents. They can't afford to rent cause the rents are high, they are high due to the over inflated home sale prices which must have high rents to pay the mortgages and many will foreclose. If you want to see change be the change. I want all NY homeowners home valuation reduced by $200,000 as it is already inflated by $250,000 based on an artificially inflated sub prime pricing market. Many states did not allow Sub Prime loans to be used for the general public. NY, CA, MA allowed sub prime loans and those are the states suffering with affordability. REVERSE SUB PRIME and reduce our home valuation and possibly we can afford to live again. The one star was forced! 0 STAR for any politician who is anti homeownership and speaks ill of hard working contributing citizens of NY!"
"Very disappointed. Keith Powers refuses to support NYC retirees effort to keep straight Medicare. Please get on board to protect us by sponsoring Intro 1099."
"12 days, no response to an email inquiry on an important issue in the City and the district that Keith is actually working on. Finally an email from his staffer proposing a meeting in a few day's time which I accepted, and asked for details on where and when and how (in person, zoom, etc..). No response - for 6 days. The meeting day came and went without further communication from their office. November is coming. Vote accordingly."
"The fundamentals of being a council member is to be accessible to your constituents. Keith Powers' office is NOT. Half the time no one picks up the phone. I called with an issue and was told they would follow up and contact me back. The person never did. I followed up several times and was told only that the original person would get back to me. STILL WAITING. Kay, who picked up the phone last time, couldn't be bothered to help me on my issue and was barely civil. It shows a certain special kind of incompetence when an office of civil service cannot even do the basics of hiring friendly and polite staff. She really made me uncomfortable on the phone with her cold indifference. I had a much better experience in the past dealing with Ben Kallos's office. I wish someone else were the councilperson for my address."
