"If I can give 0 stars I would, the worst bank I ever had to deal with! I went to the ATM to deposit a check, I get back to work at City Hall right across the street from the bank, get a call from the bank at my desk letting me know that I dropped my card and to come pick it up. I went right away to get my card and they asked me for ID which I told them what was my last deposit and that I can give them my Pin Number and you just call me!!. They denied, they wanted ID so I came back to my desk I didn't have my drivers license with me so I took My City of Newark Photo ID and a Major Credit Card...They still denied me my card saying they would ONLY accept a motor vehicle ID (which is absurd in itself when I have my pin number and never ask you to hold my card!!!) and at this point they are stealing my card! It is quite absurd that no one asked this bank to recover my card and hold it hostage...I had to leave my card overnight, Borrow money to go food shopping to feed my kids! This is unacceptable and I will be closing this account! I am still in disbelief, one minute I have my card in my possession and the next minute they are holding my card hostage...Mind blown!!! Despicable!! I guess some feel empowered when they can deny someone their Debit card when they have no money on them!!! Just Despicable!!! Update I finally went and got by card they held hostage for an entire day and I asked the manager (or who was posing as the manager) Where is the policy that says I can only use a Motor Vehicle Driver's License for ID and was told she is not to give that out...Who enforces a policy that they can not share with the person they are enforcing it upon????...Yea I'm sure there is none"
"The worstttttt branch ever to walk in. The employees at the broad st location downtown newark are very rude and unprofessional. One specifically named Tiffany, gives the worst customer experience. She seems very bothered, and has a nasty attitude. I've waited in line while others have shared the same thoughts. Santander, Pleaseeeeee choose your employees wisely as customer service cannot really be taught, it comes within and they dont have it !! I remember asking to make a complaint to the manager and while watching an associate walk to him to tell him,his body language and response was "That has to wait, I'm making a call"..seeming very bothered and overwhelemed.."
"This place is just awful. In my opinion the staff is very unprofessional and don’t care about the customers. I had to wait almost an hour for the manager to come back and come to find it she’s in the back finishing up her lunch even though she supposedly already came back from lunch. And when I tried to talk they just ignored me. I wish I could give them a 0"
"Sr. Specialist Relationship Banker from the Jersey City Branch provided the best customer service. Vanessa Pacheco went above and beyond to help me, and because of her, I did not terminate my banking services. This should be the model for all customers every visit. After 5 phone calls and 4 bank visits, Vanessa Pacheco and Gina Rodriguez (Bloomfield Ave branch) were the only bank representatives to attempt to help me. Every other person (including Lena, the manager from the Fraud department) kept giving me false information or transerfering to other departments/branches who were not able to assist."
