"Bellport boces is a horrible school in which they treat there students with no respect and turn to calling the cops the minute they get the chance too. They aren’t there to help your kids they are there to destroy the future they have left. This school doesn’t help kids who are crying or upset or mad they simply make them go to a hospital a mental hospital because they are horrible people and don’t even listen to what students have to say. This is no place where your children should go because these teachers and staff do not know how to handle young adults the right way. They just look to ruin there lives. This is a disgusting school."
"The office staff are not always in sync, with certain protocols being too confusing or vague to coordinate on tackling. The full service medical clinic that existed when I was schooled here reduced to a basic nurse office as if in every day school. A signed waiver allowed for my renewed tetanus shot after a bite in '08-'09, a flu vaccine, and the administration of NSAIDs for the occasional head ache. Services for pro-choice care? I hope this is broad spectrum normal, but if not, it will be forced out here.ADULT EDUCATION somehow means minor-schooling level care...What? A NOTE ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE I attended three classes from September'08 through May'11. Canine Careers, Animal Science I and Animal Science II. I enjoyed the more realistic explanations and discussions within the classroom. Less "Almighty teacher" and more "This is on YOU. Pass or fail." Allowing young adults to decide what level of commitment they are prepared to hold before joining the real animal workforce using skills in restraint, grooming, triage, husbandry; and all across multiple species beyond dogs and cats. Interpersonal communication skills, organization...I saw many fail out of indifference, with others, myself included, passing through in prominence. Many come to pet the animals...It's work. The animals depend on the students AND the proctors. Observing animals and their behaviors/conditions is critical; accidents and injuries happen in this work. THIS IS A PRE-COLLEGE / CAREER EDUCATION PROGRAM. No CHILDREN past the door. I hate the kids the join and within a month or two ditch, disallowing those who might have been more committed and passionate succeed. Professional groomers, pet husbandry specialists for stores and pet-sitting, farm hands with further training, veterinary assistants (no degree, as opposed to technicians), and so much more...Either you push yourself forward, or you aren't fit for the task anyway. The teachers, all LVTs (Licensed Veterinary Technicians), push the students to learn and take advantage of what they have before them, but also know what little a twisted arm truly does. Passing a class and succeeding because of what you learned are two different things. Force cuts learning, despite the grade, and so I am proud to have been a part of this more practical and success driven system, especially with animal safety and welfare at stake for those who move forward in the trade."
"rules are inconsistent and teachers aren't the best when it comes to teaching and being helpful towards students goals and expectations in the class"
"my daughter does the pharmacy tech program here and she loves the program."
"Don't ask for a copy of your degree.i had a house fire and boces refused to issue it stating I shouldn't have lost it"
