"First time at Arthur Ashe Stadium for the US OPEN and such a beautiful clean arena! Amazing experience!"
"It's nice to visit when nothing is going on, but without actually booking a court you cannot get inside the complex. We paid $40 for an outside court, mostly to be able to tour the facilities a bit. If you want to play tennis there are free courts in the park about 100 meters from here. Otherwise it's an impressive complex with lots of memorabilia and things to look at and to get the whiff of the atmosphere of this place."
"A little known fact is that this stadium is the former site of the United States Pavillion at the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair. In the daytime, the U.S. Pavillion was visible from many areas on the fairgrounds. At night, however, the building was illuminated by blue and green fiberglass panels. There were four columns beneath the building that gave off an illusion that the building was floating on air. Many groups performed at the U.S. Pavillion from all over the United States daily. Sadly, the U.S. Pavillion suffered from being vacant and at the mercy of vandals following the end of the World's Fair on October 17th, 1965. In 1976, the pavilion suffered a massive fire that burned the entire building. The only parts of the building that survived the fire were: the badly damaged steel frame of the pavilion, the concrete steps that led up towards the courtyard on the north, west, east, and south sides of the building. After eleven years of being vacant, and one year after the massive fire, the United States Pavillion was demolished. The former site became a round patch of grass as it were in 1960. I hope that this knowledge sheds good light on the history of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park."
"Wonderful venue but after 4 hours the seat got extremely hard. The decking boards from the subway were terrible so be very careful if that's the direction you enter and leave. The 2024 medical graduation from Saint George's Medical School of Grenada. Two weeks ago the Westminster Kennel Club had their championship there and of course tennis is played there."
"Both of our Sloughi were invited and we attended the 148th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in May 2024. Excellent venue and sports historic place."
