Pier 76 Hudson River Park
About the Business
Welcome to Pier 76 Hudson River Park, a vibrant addition to Manhattan's iconic waterfront. Located at 408 12th Avenue, Pier 76 became a part of the Hudson River Park on June 9, 2021, marking a new chapter of recreation and leisure along the Hudson River. Spearheaded by Governor Cuomo and constructed by the New York State Parks Department, this transformation involved the removal of a former tow pound building, creating an expansive 245,000-square-foot space for the public to enjoy.
One of the unique features of Pier 76 is the massive propeller from the S.S. United States, a legendary passenger liner renowned for its record-breaking Atlantic crossings. This impressive artifact, nearly 20 feet in diameter and weighing 73,000 pounds, serves as a historical monument to maritime history.
Currently serving as an interim open space, Pier 76 is designated as a "Park/Commercial" pier under the Hudson River Park Act. Future plans include the reconstruction of the pier to host both public parkland and revenue-generating activities, ensuring the ongoing care and maintenance of the entire Hudson River Park.
The Pier 76 Task Force, consisting of key stakeholders and facilitated by experts from Field Operations and HR&A, has been actively engaged in discussions to shape the pier's future. These efforts aim to balance the creation of high-quality public spaces with sustainable financial solutions. While not final, the Task Force's documents provide a foundation for future planning, reflecting ongoing community engagement and discussions.
Hudson River Park stretches four miles along Manhattan's west side, offering a rich tapestry of activities and attractions. With over 17 million visits each year, the park is a cherished oasis for both New Yorkers and visitors, providing diverse recreational and educational opportunities.
Stay tuned for updates on the exciting developments at Pier 76 and join us in exploring the myriad of experiences Hudson River Park has to offer.

Reviews
"My sons and I attended the fun, music, and barbecue event at the pier. Amazing moment. The music was jazz and blues. Fantastic artists on both stagess, although we spend most of the time on the main stage. The food choice was also great. Great moment."
"This is not really a park. It's more like a parking lot with nothing in it. It has potential to become a beautiful part if the city planned it well."
"A great place to roller skate, skate board. *Fairly* even ground and occasionally some other roller skaters as well"
"I have visited this pier mid-winter without preliminary online research. The pier was empty and my initial impression was as if construction workers just left for lunch and could be back any moment. Definite feel of interim state between the past and future. As with many other midtown piers, photo opportunities abound."
