About the Fifth Avenue Synagogue
Welcome to Fifth Avenue Synagogue: A Warm and Vibrant Orthodox Community in the Heart of Manhattan
Located at 5 East 62nd Street in Manhattan, New York, Fifth Avenue Synagogue is a historic and welcoming place of worship that embraces Jews from all backgrounds and visitors from around the world. Our synagogue is dedicated to fostering a vibrant Orthodox community through daily prayer, education, and communal support.
Fifth Avenue Synagogue is open for thrice-daily minyanim, providing a sacred space for communal prayer and spiritual growth. Our shul is home to the exquisite Rennert Mikvah, which welcomes visitors, and hosts the esteemed Creative Playschool, nurturing the youngest members of our community.
Led by Rabbi Eli Babich, who became our Rabbi in 2019, and his wife, Rebbetzin Lisa Babich, our synagogue is a beacon of wisdom, inspiration, and support. Rabbi Babich's teachings and the couple's dedication to ritual, educational, and pastoral duties have enriched our congregation, creating an environment where all members feel welcome and valued.
At Fifth Avenue Synagogue, we believe in the power of tzedakah, the act of charity, as a cornerstone of our community. Your donations are vital to maintaining our daily operations, supporting those in need, and ensuring our doors remain open to all.
Whether you are a long-time member, a nearby worker stopping in for prayer, or a visitor in town, we invite you to join our community and strengthen your commitment to our synagogue and to future Jewish generations. Together, we can continue to build a strong, supportive, and inclusive community in the heart of Manhattan.

Reviews of Fifth Avenue Synagogue
"Rabbi Babich is the best Rabbi, and Rebbetzin Lisa is the best Rebbetzin. This entire shul feels like walking into the most classy and elegant yet approachable loveable place. We literally felt at home, our kids were welcomed so warmly. We will be back every time we spend Shabbos in the area!"
"Such a friendly and warm synagogue. The people are so welcoming! Really grateful to have found this gem in the city!"
"Amazing place. The rabbi and Rebetzin are warm and welcoming. No place like this in NYC"
"This is always a nice place to visit. Many years ago, I worked nearby and came here semi-regularly. Dropped in for a late mincha while visiting Manhattan. Thank G-d, some things never change. Pleasant polite people, good pace for davening, feels warm and inviting. Always happy to come back."
"Fifth Avenue Synagogue has a beautiful edifice. I highly recommend if you're in town to definitely stop by and look at the architectural design. I only attended one service their and that was for Mayor Koch's funeral."
