B'nai Jeshurun
About the Business
Welcome to B'nai Jeshurun, a vibrant and inclusive synagogue community located in the heart of Manhattan's Upper West Side. Situated at 257 West 88th Street, our nearly 200-year-old non-affiliated congregation is dedicated to spirituality, community, activism, and growth. We are an egalitarian and welcoming place of worship where all are invited to explore the power of prayer and music, rooted in love and a commitment to social justice.
At B'nai Jeshurun, we believe in fostering a diverse and dynamic community. Our members come from a rich tapestry of backgrounds, including various religious, ethnic, and socioeconomic identities, as well as diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and family structures. We value these differences and embrace the full diversity of today’s Jewish community, continuously growing and learning from one another.
Our services are enlivened by world-class musicians who elevate our collective voices and deepen our connection to prayer. As we gather for Shabbat and other services, we are reminded of our shared commitment to creating a more just, equitable, and loving world.
We invite you to join us for our Shabbat Morning Services every Saturday from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Registration for High Holy Day services is now open, with full access available to BJ members in good standing and their guests. Whether you're looking to participate in spiritual growth, community activism, or simply enjoy good food and great company at our Community Shabbat Dinners, there's a place for you here at B'nai Jeshurun.
Get in touch with us today to learn how you can take an active role in shaping and supporting our unique spiritual home. We look forward to welcoming you into our community.
For more information, visit us at 257 West 88th Street (between Broadway and West End Avenue) or call us at 212-787-7600. Join us in our journey towards a transformative spiritual community and a more just and peaceful world.

"Absolutely amazing. Stunning inside with tons of room. The services are beyond amazing. The music is just so surreal and I love it here."
"Have used it for weekly religious services location And zoom presentations of many meetings"
"conservative , traditional shul but unaffiliated with USCJ- I wish I lived nearby accommodates observant , halachic Jews but also those of all stripes . Beautiful ambience and physical plant. Great music including instruments on Shabbat. Shows a willingness to interpret Talmud/halacha with intelligence . Active with kids and families etc. Also focuses on the unaffiliated, 20-30 somethings who flock here on Friday night. This is where traditional, halachic Judaism should reside in the 21st century."
"Welcomes me anytime. A real place to feel like home if you're a jew or even anyone just practicing Judaism as a lifestyle / religion. Super forward thinking and loving."
"Just attended the live stream morning services with my partner who isn’t Jewish. We both were blown away at how beautiful this whole service was. What an absolute treasure to have something like this available online. I hope to be able to visit in person sometime soon to experience this beauty and power in person. I have never experienced such an awesome combination of people leading services."
