Reviews
"Your home for progressively oriented yet traditionally rooted Judaism and Jewish community"
""Haimish" Jewish community that draws from Montclair and beyond. Nice mix of ages (preschoolers all the way up to respected elders). New families have been joining since Rabbi Julie Roth arrived in 2022. She is personable, passionate, and spirited. Small enough to feel like you know folks, and big enough to feel like a diverse community. If you're shopping for a Jewish community in the area, Shomrei should be on your short list."
"We love Shomrei Emunah and have been a part of its welcoming community for 5 years. Both of our children went to the preschool, which has been (and still is) a great experience."
"Have been a member for 40 years. Small-ish congregation, open-door/pay-what-you-can membership. Safety protocols in place, guard at door during services. Most services available via streaming. Unfortunately, current super rabbi is retiring next year. Despite efforts to overcome this, generations don't mix very much. Regular worshippers skew older, but much programming is young-family oriented. Few programs for singles or seniors."
"Like a second home. People are welcoming and diverse. Rabbi is a scholar yet down to Earth. Never too busy to listen. Wry sense of humor. Handicap accessible. Whole lot on High Holy Days is for handicapped only."
