"The World War 1 Monument in Rutherford has a unique positioning that proves to be most definitely an eyecatcher. It is a tall spire located in the center of a three way trisection which forms , through its location, a rotary with Park Avenue as its eastern side, West Passaic Avenue as its westbound intersect and Chestnut Street as a northwest trisect. The monument is dedicated to those who served, and particularly, the nineteen borough residents who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. At night the eternal flame located atop the monument is lit up, depicting the eternal spirit that is patriotism. A sign plaque with planters on the trisection in front of the library, relates information regarding the history of the monument."
