Established on September 24, 1914, this historic library was originally known as the Brownsville Children’s Library, celebrated as one of the first libraries in the world dedicated solely to children. As one of the last Carnegie libraries built in Brooklyn, Stone Avenue Library has a rich legacy of fostering education and community engagement.

You can borrow up to three tools at a time from our Greenpoint Library collection, or explore New York's rich cultural landscape with our museum passes, granting access to over 80 cultural institutions. Our recent renovation, in celebration of our 100th anniversary, introduced exciting new features including a life-sized chess set, modern furniture and lighting, and beautifully refinished interiors. A standout addition is our "Word Wall," a stunning mural that highlights the 1,000 most frequently used words in reading and writing, underscoring our commitment to literacy and education.
