"**Rating: 1 Star** As someone who was optimistic about finding a spiritual home and community, it is with great disappointment that I must share my experience with Brookdale Christian Church. I had hoped to find a welcoming environment that embraced individuals from all walks of life, especially a church that would resonate with the energy and aspirations of younger people seeking spiritual guidance and fellowship. Unfortunately, Brookdale Christian Church has proven to be a place that is resistant to change and inclusivity. The atmosphere is permeated with narrow-mindedness, where a conservative worldview stifles any progressive dialogue and the vibrant potential of youth is met with cold indifference. There is a palpable sense of judgment that hangs heavy in the air, not just towards newcomers, but even towards its own members who do not strictly adhere to the rigid expectations set forth by the leadership. The younger crowd, eager for a faith experience that aligns with contemporary values of acceptance and understanding, finds no footing here. Instead, they encounter an environment that seems unwelcoming to fresh perspectives and diverse backgrounds. This has led to a disheartening exodus of younger members, leaving behind a congregation that skews towards an older demographic. What is particularly troubling is the church's tendency to view everything associated with the new generation as "worldly," dismissing contemporary values and perspectives as incompatible with their doctrine. This rigid stance not only alienates younger members but also demonstrates a resistance to embracing the evolving needs and perspectives of the community. Furthermore, it raises questions about the leadership's own past and its potential "worldly" elements. It is perplexing to witness the church's leadership condemning the "worldliness" of the younger generation while turning a blind eye to their own historical actions and experiences. There appears to be a selective application of moral standards, which undermines the church's integrity and sends conflicting messages about forgiveness and growth. Equally concerning is the ill behavior I have witnessed among the singers and other members who hold prominent positions within the church. There have been instances of rudeness and demeaning behavior directed towards one another, which is alarming given that the church continues to allow these individuals to maintain their roles on stage and within the congregation. It is perplexing how the church justifies passing judgment on others while tolerating such ill behaviors among its own members. In conclusion, my experience at Brookdale Christian Church has been profoundly disappointing. A church should be a sanctuary for all, a place of refuge that promotes love, acceptance, and personal growth. Instead, I found a community mired in judgment and exclusion. It is my hope that Brookdale Christian Church reflects on these issues and considers the profound impact that such an unwelcoming atmosphere can have on individuals seeking spiritual nourishment.
