Reviews of Garfield City Hall
"I would recommend you stay away from buying or investing in this city. The city workers have no manners, very rude and show no emphatic with residents. Despite the fact our taxes pay for their job. They ask me to install a fire monitoring system and gave me tickets for not getting it done even thought the permits for the job were already in."
"The worse people to deal with specially with the parking permit department they will deny you even tho you have everything they ask for… and for renewing its even worse because they already have all the documents they need and they require for you to send them again. Such a joke and every night they give you tickets if your parking permit its expired. DO NOT MOVE TO THIS TOWN to avoid headaches"
"Rude parking permit office people. I received parking ticket despite being resident. Mrs Cappadocia is very rude and unprofessional."
"I would definitely give it a 0!!! Residential parking renewal is horrible. They don’t send any notice by email or mail before permit gets expired. My parents got 2 tickets and now I need to wait a week and a half paying $5 per night for 4 vehicles until my parking permits get approved. Garfield only cares about $$$ not their residents. Also when my residential parking was active I got 4 “no parking without a permit” tickets. Ticket had my plate number only different by one digit or letter. I don’t understand why or who’s the night cop who keeps doing this. I can’t wait to move out of Garfield."
"The amount and detail of paper work needed to obtain a residential parking permit is unreasonable. You would think that you were applying for a government job or at the pickiest DMV. I had the extreme displeasure of having Corine look over our permit application. She was unnecessarily particular, not helpful and unsympathetic. We literally provided: -dwelling certificate - proof of address change from dmv -Verizon email confirming new address - license ID - up to date car registration - car insurance with new address on it even with ALL that, she was harping on the fact that our insurance card said “policy holder address” instead of “garaging address”. Mind you, we were paying $5 per night for TWO cars! It took us 3 weeks to finally be able to provide everything that Garfield requested. I understand there’s a reason they require more specific records but this is insane. We had to call in several times where we spoke with another lady that was so much nicer and helpful and approved our application because Corine was being so up tight and refused to. SOLUTION: Once you start the application and provide a dwelling certificate , they should suspend your overnight payments for a month. Allowing you to get all the other million documents that they require. We just moved here, my utility and bank mail hasn’t arrived yet and most people don’t for several weeks. Insane! And the tickets are $50 each! I lived here 3 years ago and I just had to provide an updated license with my new address and called it a day. It’s crazy now."
