Hackensack City Manager

Welcome to the Hackensack City Manager's Office, located at 65 Central Avenue, Hackensack, New Jersey 07601. As a pivotal part of the local government, the City Manager serves as the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer of Hackensack. Under the guidance and policies established by the Mayor and Council, the City Manager is responsible for executing all laws and ordinances within the city.

Each year, the City Manager diligently compiles and submits a tentative annual budget to the City Council, accompanied by an insightful annual report for both the Council and the public. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including the appointment and removal of department heads and their subordinates, as well as negotiating labor contracts with city unions.

In addition, the City Manager is tasked with preparing recommendations for municipal improvements and executing these projects as determined by the City Council. Attendance at all City Council meetings is mandatory, ensuring that the Manager is actively involved in all aspects of city governance.
