"Amazing park and nature preserve. Great hiking trails and a small educational building with some animal exhibits. Be sure to say hi to Bert and Ernie the turtles!"
"Beautiful nature walk. No dangerous wild animals. I saw lots of chipmunks and squirrels. Also spotted a woodpecker, a baby hare and some deer. Very easy trail. Great place to take kids."
"absolutely love this place!! The trails are so beautiful to traverse, you can tell this place is well loved and taken cared of. There are over five trails and they have such beautiful places to sit and just take in nature. This place is really beautiful. If you have a moment, I’d definitely come and do one of the trails (they are not difficult to traverse)."
"Tranquil pond with a max depth of about 6 ft. Benches adjacent to pond to relax, though fishing and netting are prohibited. There is also a quaint nature center with some turtles and frogs, and a public bathroom, when it’s open. The surrounding woods contain about half a dozen well-marked trail loops. The trails are all between about 0.5 miles and about 2 miles, and provide very casual hikes. There is also a trail connecting the nature center to Allison Park for those who prefer a destination hike. You will find a wooden box at the trailhead meant to contain trail maps, though it is usually empty. But there is strong cellphone reception throughout, and Google Maps should be more than sufficient as a guide. Dogs are permitted on the trails on a leash. There is a free small parking lot on premise that fills up quickly on nice days. If you are driving be mindful to go slowly over the grating at the entranceway gate. This helps to monitor and contain wildlife but it can be very harsh on cars."
"This is a really great place to walk/hike and see all sorts of natural beauty. There is small parking lot, but the park does have several entrances, so you could probably park at one of those if its full. I started at the Aviary and saw four different types of birds (very cute) and got some info from one of the caretakers which was nice. The staff inside the main building were all very friendly and kind, and even allowed me to sit in last minute for a talk about one of the owls (Tilly). There are turtles, snakes, "an indoor for the winter" bird and small lizard (I think). The inside is basically a mini nature museum and would be a great place to bring children. They so have childrens events as well As for the hiking, there are several loops to hike, some easier than others but all generally mild IMO (there were lots of families with small children hiking). Despite the amount of people it was very quiet and relaxing. There is also a playground and picnic area. There are bathrooms in the main building but the ones in the playground/picnic area are closed for the season per the sign. There are no dogs, or bikes allowed on the trail. Overall an excellent experience and I'd definitely recommend checking it out."
