Welcome to Oneida Run, nestled within the beautiful Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx, New York. Our park is a serene escape from the bustling city, offering a perfect setting for picnics, barbecues, and outdoor adventures. Located at Van Cortlandt Park East, we invite you to explore the natural beauty and rich history of New York's third largest park.
Please be mindful of our community guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. When barbecuing, maintain a safe distance from other patrons, children, and trees, and remember to clean your area before leaving. Dispose of coal and matches in designated hot coal barrels only, and use water to extinguish hot coals. For gatherings of more than 20 attendees, please apply for a permit at least 30 days in advance via [this link](https://nyceventpermits.nyc.gov/Parks/).
Our park features over 20 miles of hiking trails, including the Cass Gallagher Trail, John Keiran Nature Trail, John Muir Nature Trail, Old Croton Aqueduct Trail, and Putnam Greenway. Each trail offers unique challenges and scenic views, from historic aqueducts to verdant forests, perfect for hikers of all skill levels.
While exploring, visit the Van Cortlandt House Museum, a testament to New York’s eclectic history and architecture. Open Tuesday through Sunday, this 18th-century manor house is both a New York City Landmark and a National Historical Landmark.
The Van Cortlandt Park Alliance offers year-round special events and educational programs, utilizing the park's 1,146 acres as an outdoor classroom. For more information or to register a school group, visit our Explorable Places site.
We also remind visitors that all dogs must be leashed unless in a designated dog run area. Enjoy your visit to Oneida Run, where nature, history, and community come together in the heart of The Bronx.

"Good, friendly park. People here are pretty nice. Clean up after yourself and bring water - that’s about it!"
"Great dog park! Very well maintained and always full of friendly people with their dogs. Our doggies love it here. It’s also right near an entrance to Van Cortlandt park trails."
"Cute little park with two dog parks in it. im assuming its one for the big dog and another for the little ones and the trail goes pretty long LOADS OF MOSQUITO so bring plenty of bug spray. Definitely look into the park I believe this trail goes to the back of Van courtland please dont hold me against it not sure, but Ill definitely look into it for sure other than that I think its cute. Have to find parking alot of the times I go and there is but if i habe to say one day the most everything was on top of each other and count find nothing to walk my dog, so I took her to the next park, you know better lucky next time for her but definitely worth the going they got benches to sit and sometimes the dog watering pump works but i bring my own water for my dog just in case of anything."
