Reviews of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
"I am extremely disappointed in this cemetery and I am sorry it was ever an option. I went there today to visit my father on what is 3 months since his passing. I have encountered so many issues from a nasty gatekeeper to now this. Apparently they dug up the grave next to my father's, but not without destroying half the things on my father's grave first. There are tire marks everywhere. My father's headstone was covered with dirt. The flag pole, flag, and battery operated candle are missing along with a Grandpa ornament and magnet from my devastated son. Do they have a right to destroy things without repercussions? I have tried numerous times to contact the manager, but they are never available. So I went to look in the surrounding garbage to see if I can locate my things. Instead I find multiple beer bottles. Is that what you do now at cemeteries? I am so disappointed in this place and I wish my father was never buried here. Once again, the gatekeeper does not disappoint. I have been having trouble with the gatekeeper since my father passed in 2021. I work and then I rush there to visit for a few minutes because they close at 5pm. Well, they start kicking you out around 4:50 pm. Recently I lost my Mom and I was visiting her on her first birthday in Heaven. It was a very emotional experience for myself and my 2 children who were there with me. The gatekeeper starts beeping his horn uncontrollably at 4:50pm. When he didn't get a response, he then gets out of his car, tramples all over the graves, puts his foot on a gravestone and yells at myself and my children that they are closing now and I need to leave. I didn't realize that the horn was for me. I was there paying my respect to my Mom. I told him it wasn't 5pm yet. We went back and forth. It was then 4:59 pm. We started heading to our car. The gatekeeper went to his, sped backwards and made a 3 point turn. Proceeded to the gate and locked us in. Then he left. I had to call the cops to come and get us out. Needless to say I filed a police report and I will also be filing a complaint with the court. We were stuck in the cemetery for a half hour. I also have it all on video when he started yelling at myself and my kids before 5pm. How disrespectful!! I wish my parents were never buried there!! Please reconsider going there. There are much better places. You want to be welcomed when visiting loved ones. This is NOT the place!!! BEWARE!!!!"
"What a nice cemetery. Most of my maternal relatives are buried here and I made a trip up to see them. The atmosphere was very peaceful, it is definitely a good final resting place. I will be back soon to visit more family."
"I am also disappointed with this cemetery. Every time we place something on our parents grave it gets removed. Eternal lights have been on graves for years. It’s very rewarding to see the lights at night when you pass. Now they are all gone. Artificial plants are removed but you can’t keep real ones cause the deer and geese eat them. Too many rules just to make it convenient for them. Easier to throw everything out and just plow over with a lawn mower. So sad."
"Very thankful for the kind and professional employee at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery who helped me find my relatives. They could definitely do some goose cleanup in the walkways, but the cemetery is nicely maintained otherwise. I wish I could stop by more often to clean the tombstones and plant some flowers."
"I visited Holy Sepulchre in August 2019 for family research. Several ancestors and immediate family members are buried here. Prior to my trip, I had requested several interment burial records so that I could easily find the actual burial sites, instead of walking around and attempting to locate burial locations myself. That would have been pretty much impossible. The staff promptly mailed me records and maps of the sections of each family member that I requested. Upon my visit, I arrived at the Cemetery to see that the entire property was well maintained. Using the maps provided by staff, I easily found the majority of the burial sites. When I was unable to locate some, I went into the office and asked the front office staff, who actually remembered my name due to them sending me so many interment records. They explained that not all burial sites have a headstone which may prove a little difficult locating some sites, though I was assured that they were buried there. The 2 ladies int he front office were extremely helpful! I know there is one star review posted here regarding the deer and wildlife. It's not the deer's fault that their natural habitat is disappearing due to the tearing down of their land for new builds in the area. They were peaceful during my visit and caused no bother to me. Thank you office and maintenance staff for maintaining the Cemetery as professionally as you currently are. My deceased family members deserve a respectful, peaceful resting place."
