Reviews
"The Eastchester Building Department staff (Carlo, Justin, Maria, and staff) have been incredibly helpful during our renovation of the old church building on 100 Stewart Ave. Every step of the way they were helpful and patient from start to finish. We are grateful for their service to our community."
"Jay King and Jim Flandreau are the best. Couldn't ask for a better team to ensure the safety of the structures in our town. Very helpful and informative, not to mention very friendly and caring. Don't be afraid to give them a call, or stop in for a visit! The people who gave the bad reviews obviously never worked with the Eastchester building dept."
"The staff at this department is always there to help and make sure that building codes and laws are being obeyed.Great building department, great town I live in. I've had multiple issues with the landlord David Holtzman such as a broken door, mold and etc in my apartment. The Eastchester building department has gone above and beyond to help my family in our time of need.Their display of being professional and courteous is to be admired. I have great experiences EVERY time I deal with Jay and Jim!!! Keep up the great work guys."
"I've been calling with questions about filing a permit for an air-con replacement for my son's home (I was trying to get ahead of the game since past experiences with building departments in Westchester have been nothing short of a nightmare). The woman who answers the phone is very nasty and has an attitude like she's being bothered to do her job when I call. Furthermore, in her rush to get me off the phone, she told me all the wrong information! I don't get it, we are beholden to these "departments" for "safety and energy concerns" as far as I've been told, yet these people are so incompetent; why are we held hostage, we already pay enough taxes and get nothing out of it in this State, now we have these gatekeepers who terrorize homeowners with their attitude, incompetence, inability to efficiently do their jobs due to lack of knowledge of procedure, and an overall sense of entitlement that is totally undeserved. They're still not as bad as Yonkers and White Plains, considering we didn't have to wait forever and a day to get the permit and spend hundreds more on "corrections" (Yonkers charged an extra $300 for our contractor to submit a larger copy of a land survey, smh!!!) , but still, it's totally unacceptable the way these "departments" are run, the amount of money it costs us homeowners for a piecemeal operation is insulting. ESPECIALLY since they bilk us for so much already in this sad state of New York. If we can't fight city hall, we might as well let them know how much they suck! Things would get done so much faster if there was any accountability in these offices. GET GOOD AND STOP HALTING PROGRESS!"
"We just found out that there is still an open work permit for work in our bathroom which we had done in 2006. We found this out because we are sold our apartment and the title company did a search and found this out. Why is this still open? Alison Pinsley 94A Oregon Ave. Bronxville, NY 10708"
