"Topline: Extremely expensive for what amounted to lackluster service. Started out okay-- it was expensive for a fairly simple small business (~2k) but... whatever, it was done in a timely manner and our rep was very nice to deal with. After a couple years, our first rep quit, and for whatever reason, Bonodio removed us from their list of clients? So, when I contacted them a few weeks before the filing deadline they were... flatfooted and unaware I wanted my taxes done with them (I never indicated not wanting to continue service-- so... I dont know why they thought that). As a result, my taxes were late and I was issued a fine. They eventually did get things done. Second rep (who was nice enough) quit. Then got a bill and our bill had unexpectedly doubled from prior years. In the past, my reps would confirm with me when: the rate was changing and what the bill would roughly be. This didnt happen. $2k was high for a basic business filing, but over $4k?? thats absurd when there are other accountants that charge under ~$1k. Ill also note, the Third rep was... a kind reading would be: very matter of a fact and by the book. unkind: unfriendly, inflexible. Seems to me that they were trying to ditch some of their clients (the ones that wouldnt pay a huge premium) and rather than just say that, they figured they would just raise rates until some threw in the towel. I did think the quality of service (during covid anyway) was good with our first rep. I cant recall anything stand out about the advice/guidance AFTER the first rep."

"Our small business was being audited, and we were recommended to the Bonadio Group as being one of the leading accounting firms in Syracuse. It started out well enough, but the night before the actual audit our accountant quit. The one who took over was downright hostile about having to pick up someone else's work. She said that all the work that had been done on the file was not how she wanted to proceed so we were billed a hefty sum of money (many thousands of dollars) with a disappointing result. Unless you have enough money to get their attention, stay away. They bill like a NYC attorney's office, but for the smaller client, they DO NOT deliver result, just invoices. The response below is a joke. I emailed them several times to review the charges and they never responded. Instead, they billed him around $10,000 to assist with the audit and then turned the account over to collection. AVOID THIS FIRM."
