"Historic Paterson Train Station, the current elevated station which replaced the original street level station in 1930, has seen its changing scene over the last couple of centuries. Once, this station served not only local freight and passenger service, but also CROSS COUNTRY TRAIN SERVICE ALL THE WAY TO CHICAGO AS WELL. Over the last 70 years or so the line has since dropped national service run by the Erie Railroad, and ended freight service as well. This station, despite being somewhat run down a bit, still has its architectural marvels. The cast iron stairs have endured decades of wear and although pretty much shadowy have withstood the test of time and elements, both natural and human. The area however, has not. It has become a run down, very seedy area, which borders a now not so great neighborhood. Put bluntly, it's a station enjoyed best during the day, and avoided at night."
"It would be fabulous if the people in charge of keeping the streets free of refuse would do a better job of cleaning the sidewalks of certain places."
"It works I guess, but it’s small, trains come very little and mine was late. Right in downtown Patterson, which is nice but when you get out of the station it feels very dreary."
"The Paterson Station is in a convenient location and you can get a good view of downtown Paterson or Garret Mountain many local and express trains come down this line. But there are so many homeless people and this train station is trashed at night it’s even worse. And there is also a homeless encampment under the station"
"The train station of the city of Paterson is strategically located near downtown. Against it I can say that its entrance stairs (as it is an aerial platform) is generally dirty and lack of security, especially at night. In his favor I can say, that in the evenings it offers one of the best views of the city. From there, the city feels quiet, looks beautiful and resplendent."
