Reviews of Governor Alfred E. Driscoll Bridge
"Overall, it proved to be an efficient and convenient route over the Raritan River. The bridge boasts an impressive number of lanes, which significantly minimizes the chances of encountering a traffic jam during the crossing. However, it is worth noting that traffic conditions may change once you reach the sections after the bridge. While the initial experience on the bridge itself is smooth, with numerous lanes allowing for a swift journey, it is important to be aware that the traffic situation can alter once you exit the bridge. The road narrows down to three lanes per section, and further down the route, it reduces to two lanes. As a result, congestion may arise in these areas, particularly during peak hours or during periods of high traffic volume. It is advisable to plan accordingly and be prepared for potential slowdowns in these sections. One notable advantage of this bridge is that it offers toll-free access for northbound travel, making it an attractive option for those heading in that direction. Southbound travel, however, requires a toll payment. If you prefer a local, toll-free alternative when crossing the Raritan River, I recommend taking the U.S. 9/NJ Highway 35 Southbound. This route provides a convenient and cost-effective solution for avoiding tolls while still crossing the river efficiently. In conclusion, the Governor Alfred E. Driscoll Bridge is an excellent choice for quickly traversing the Raritan River, thanks to its ample lanes that ensure smooth traffic flow. Just be mindful of potential congestion beyond the bridge, as the number of lanes decreases. Additionally, for a toll-free alternative, consider using the U.S. 9/NJ Highway 35 Southbound route."
"Beautiful views. Adding lanes over the years really eased traffic significantly. Of course, expect some traffic on this bridge during rush hour or on summer weekends but overall, the cars seem to flow freely these days. Do keep your head on a swivel for those who wish to break the land-speed record on this bridge. Racing drivers are not uncommon on the Driscoll Bridge."
"The Governor Alred E. Driscoll Bridge crosses the raritan river and carries both the Garden State Parkway and US Route 9. This bridge put simply is MASSIVE, i mean just look at all the lanes and photos of it and you will know what i mean. This bridge is one the finest achivments in NJ infrastructure and it really deserves the attention it gets. The one thing however i think this bridge needs is a pedestrain walkway as the nearby victory bridge has that whilst this bridge dosent. Still though its hard to complain with this massive feat of engineering talent."
