"My sister described our family’s recent experience perfectly. It’s heartbreaking and I have no words on how our family feels about our Mom’s ornament being discarded with the trash. Families should be contacted if there is an issue or if a change is to be made. If the staff is “too busy”, items that are going to be discarded should be placed in a box at the entrance with a sign, so that families have the opportunity to retrieve sentimental items. Almost 5 years and we NEVER had an issue. We are beyond heartbroken with this situation. Not only did we lose our Mom but we lost an item that was sentimental to her and our family."
"Last week mom and I placed a flower arrangement on my dad's tombstone. Mom was pleased. Today, I discovered the flower arrangement was nowhere to be found. I searched for it all around the area and nothing. I believe someone stole it. The arrangement is not light so it should not have been blown far away. It's shocking and upsetting. Not to mention my mom who is 87 years old will find out that someone stole the flowers she bought for her deceased husband."
"My Mother and Father are buried there. My Father in 1973 and Mother in 1990. The last year visit was in 2016. I'm 90yrs old and don't know if I'll be able to visit again. I hope so. God willing. Always glad when I went to St. Gertrude Cemetery for so many years."
"Beautiful cemetery and very well maintained. You will always see people coming and going to visit their loved ones, which is really nice. Very peaceful and serene, as long as there are no dogs. I appreciate and respect the new construction taking place to make it even more beautiful. However, dogs should not be allowed in the cemetery under any circumstances. People bring their dogs to the cemetery, especially on Sundays when there is no one in the office. They are barking, peeing and not on leashes. Furthermore, I don't need a little dog running and barking at my small child while we are paying our respects. My child cried in fear jumping into my arms when a dog came at him. If he had been bitten by the dog, I would have called the police. It is so disrespectful to bring dogs into a Catholic cemetery. I do not bring my dog into a Catholic Church, so why would I bring my dog into a Catholic cemetery. After all, dogs are dogs and our four legged friends will pee on things. The cemetery has so many rules and regulations about items that are allowable and not allowable (e.g., American flags), yet how are dogs allowable -- pooping and not on leashes? The cemetery is a sacred and holy place, so let's act like it. This is a cemetery, not a park. I can't believe the cemetery and the Archdiocese allows this to happen."
"Very peaceful. Well kept; perhaps too much so - they remove things I wish they'd leave alone, even small personal items on the headstone base. The access roads are a bit narrow making it difficult for two cars to pass. Wheelchair access is tight between headstones, you have to search for spots to get through. But really pretty, peaceful and serene."
