"I had tried to work with Tompkins for my business banking when they had a representative speak in a business class I had taken. I sent my first email in September to reach out about speaking to someone on my needs, I got an email the next day asking what times worked best for me, I responded with times. I didn’t receive an email back, so I then emailed again 3 times throughout October before deciding to call the branch in November when I didn’t hear from anyone. We finally discussed my options in the beginning of November, I sent in years of tax paperwork, business plan paperwork, and finished an application November 30th. Again, I heard nothing back from Tompkins. I emailed them December 15th after seeing they did a hard pull on my credit the week before but still hadn’t heard anything. I called and left a message on the 18th. Then called again the 19th where I finally was able to reach someone about my denied application. Over the phone they said I would receive more details in email on why they made this decision, but here we are on the 26th with still no word from them. I really wanted to work with a local bank for my business and had heard good things about Tompkins- and it’s not even the denial that was disappointing but the lack of communication and having to chase people down for answers over 3-4 months."
