"There is a woman at the front desk in the mornings that is phenomenal. The trainers have various knowledge on fitness and can cater to any goal you have. The sales team is upfront, they have the answers to me questions. The members are diverse and kind. Most are focused on their workout to notice you. The classes are great and the instructors are inspiring. The equipment functions, but idk wish they were “new”. Overall, great place for me to workout."
"While there are several amazing people here at the front desk and in the training staff, at the end of the day, this place is still a Crunch. Greedy, predatory policies -- do NOT I repeat do NOT prepay dues for the gym if you can help it; they only care about money, and recently I had an especially terrible experience dealing with Samantha, the 'Operations Manager'. I had to go back home to Canada over a month to attend to a family matter and the area had no nearby gyms so I requested to freeze my membership. After being delayed several days and needing to follow up, they wouldn't agree to freeze my membership until the NEXT month (still 23 days away), and wanted to charge me $25 to do so. In New York, the price even after prepaying can come to around $100 a month for Crunch. They don't have any care or willingness to work things out. BTW, I've previously been sneakily charged a $5 late fee for cancelling on my spot in a group fitness class (it shows up later on the credit card). Charge - charge - charge -- let me try something different, and try a charge(back) for this whole situation. If you actually care about a gym community I'd highly recommend you to avoid the ridiculous institution that is Crunch like the plague. This gym chain tries to have the veneer of a mid-high tier gym, while many parts of it remain dilapidated, filled with odd smells and let at the helm by money-hungry businesspeople. Good luck out there."
"The smith machine hasn’t been working for ONE month, I called before showing up to ask about it, a woman in the front desk said it was, plus the day it stopped working they asked the mechanic to fix, he couldn’t as you can see, but I went to Bowery location on that day, they didn’t have one, I called them and asked if the mechanic had finished, a guy in the front desk said: I think so. It seems like they don’t even know what they’re doing there. Besides that the trainers in this location walk around like in gangs, intimidating you to not use the machines and they take forever when they are together, and I heard that from 2 other members, so I’m not the first one to realize, and when training clients sometimes using two machines at the same time and don’t rerack the weights. One trainer once approached me saying my legs were trash, kinda kidding but yes, that’s what happened, trying to mess my self steem in order to sell his training. What a nightmare gym!"
"This gym is a total win! Two floors packed with all the gear you need – A large range of cardio equipment, machines and free weights. Personal training is on point, and the sauna and showers are a great way to relax after a workout. If you want a fitness spot that's got it all, this is the place. Just be prepared to have to wait for machines as it can be really busy (depending what time you go)."
"I entered the gym at 5:30pm on a Thursday and was welcomed by an intense smell of foot, sweat and humidity. This smell was so strong that my nose never adjusted and I was continuously disgusted during my entire workout. Additionally this gym was very crowded and disorganized. Weight training equipment is shoved into any corner it fits with little regard to flow and organization. It was hard to find what I needed since many accessories were randomly scattered around the gym. Lastly, this location suffers from poor gym etiquette with members not de-racking barbells or wiping up after themselves."
