Reviews
"This gym has consistently smelled like crap for well over a month now and it smells like it’s coming the the AC. How this issue has not been addressed is beyond me. No one re racks their weights nor wipes down their machines when they finish. Then there are some people who have never heard of deodorant. For a gym that charges $120 a month, unless you live on the same block/very, VERY close to this gym I’d give it a hard pass. The staff are friendly and I have no issues with them. It’s mostly the gym patrons that suck/the horrid smell which can completely ruin a workout."
"Great gym , nice staff , clean locker rooms & good classes ! Quieter on the weekdays , lots of new machines ."
"I’ve been coming to this gym for 3 years and I love it! I’ve gone at different times during the day 5 days a week and I’ve never had an issue not being able to use the equipment even during their busy times. This location is clean and staff is super friendly!"
"Women in the East Village and LES area of Manhattan please be aware, and I urge you to look at other gyms in the area instead of joining crunch. This past January I had a disappointing and scary experience at Crunch Fitness at their Bowery location. During a group fitness class another member taking the class exhibited extremely inappropriate behavior towards me. This behavior clearly violated crunch’s code of conduct. There is another review that mentions Alexandria, the current Operations Manager of this location, and she was not helpful or sensitive to my situation at all. The gym is supposed to be a safe and comfortable space for all members, and the staff at crunch failed in making me feel space at this location."
"I book gym time here on ClassPass sometimes when I’m visiting town. They generally only have a few spots open per day, and they are only off-peat slots. Even then, the gym is usually very busy. In comparison to Crunch Union Square, this one has a much bigger weights area with a lot more cable machines and dumbbells but not nearly enough squat racks or places to deadlift. As a woman lifter I also find the culture here a lot more bro-ey. Guys tend to hang around the popular equipment for a long time and chat with each other whereas at USQ people finish their set and leave."
