"I ordered a book through a friend: A Man in Parts by David Reid Lowell, a channel and medium I have seen and I began to read his books. I’ve read him - David Reid Lowell channels Michel in Sedona Journal of Emergence. The book came in excellent condition is a a GREAT read and journey. I’ve collected all his books and really enjoyed them. This guy is one of the most gifted mediums I’ve ever seen and his books are great resources. Again, the book came quickly, well wrapped and in very good condition. Thank you. Deeply appreciated."
"My mil died at age 90. She had a few boxes of books; most I donated but I held a couple of boxes looking to get a little bit of their value. I do understand that this is a business and he needs to make money too, and I said this to him. This man was so rude. I could not even get out a full sentence about anything without being cut off. He was far more concerned with de-valuating everything without even looking at the book or even knowing it's title and complaining that there is sooo much overhead cost for him and he has to worry about paying his bills etc. The only impression you get from him is that he wants it for free. He isn't looking to buy books, he's looking for free books. I finally cut HIM off and stated that I would look for somewhere else to dispose of my books and I abruptly walked out. Just so you know, if you drop at the Salvation Army he is the first person they call to go through your books and take what he wants."
"This bookstore sells from their own website, eBay, Amazon, Alibris, Biblio, and Abe.They ship worldwide. The reason I give 4 stars is that there isn’t in store shopping. I mean you should really see the place it’s a bibliophiles dream. You can order online and pick up in store. If you’re looking for specifics you can call and see if they have it in the warehouse. They have a variety of art books, novels, travel guides, philosophy books, pretty much anything you can think of. Books that are no longer in circulation. Prices can be high but understand they do want to make a profit. There are books from the 1800s that are still intact. They also have books in foreign languages. German is a common find. If you ever don’t know what to do with your old books, this place will take them."
"I recently discovered that they are in possession of a presentation copy of my book, with an inscription to my parents, which they have listed for $100. My father has moderate dementia and most likely inadvertently put the book in good will not realizing what he had done. I reached out to RSB to explain the situation and ask if they would take $20 (likely more than they paid) + shipping to return it to my father. The response was, "SORRY, NO DISCOUNTS." I followed up to see if they would take another signed copy in trade and I received no response. There was a great opportunity here to do a decent thing and maybe even get a little positive press for doing said decent thing while also highlighting the lighter side of living with dementia. The coldness of their response was frankly, disappointing and perhaps telling."
"Avoid Robinson Street Books at all costs! I'm a massive fan of used bookstores. They're havens for bibliophiles like me. And most of my experiences with them has been great. Alas, Robinson Street Books is the worst bookseller I've ever purchased books from. One of the books I bought from them through Abebooks was described as "Very good. Nice copy. " But it wasn't in the described condition. The spine had ripples on it. And bottom of pages had indentations on it. The other book was similarly described but was also in only fair condition. Their response? "Please return the two items to us for full refund." That's it, no apologies offered. This may seem trivial but it isn't. I've purchased thousands of books and not once has a bookseller ever not apologized if it was their fault. In my experience, when it's the bookseller's error, they take responsibility for it. First, by apologizing for their error, then offering options, e.g., give me a refund and then ask me to send it, not vice-versa; send me other copies of the book at no cost; or offer me a refund and say I can just keep the books. They're the first bookseller who hasn't apologized for providing misleading information, and they still haven't. Avoid Robinson Street Books at all costs!"
