"My name is John, I was a Court ordered placement from New Jersey ( juvenile in need of supervision) with learning disabilities...I attended GJR ,George Agency from 1970 to 1973 (41 months) I graduated with top honors I worked electrical engineering/electronics My whole life with the education I received there I also served for 8 years as a juvenile drug alcohol counselor. The executive director was Frank Speno and before him Donald T. Urquhart... It was the best school and vocational education. it allowed me to excell in electronics, photography, heavy equipment operator and maintenance .....(6 Stars) John D."
"This guy Matt Gombas who works there knowingly abuses animals and posts about it on private Facebook groups. I think parents should know that as of June 2024 he's working there. I wouldn't want him near my kids..."
"worst place you could imagine. i was there when i was a kid and the staff are horribly abusive. if someone broke any rules. and by that i mean something as simple as taking something they aren't supposed to. they would slam you onto the ground and "restrain" you. which is code for throw you on the ground really hard and sit on you until you stopped fighting back. sometimes they would even punch you. the worst part is a lot of the actual residents are from the city. and a lot of them either are in a gang. or act like they are to "seem cool" and the kids here get violent. someone started a fist fight with me once because i wouldn't give them my apple juice at lunch. this place has the same atmosphere as a prison. but the worst part is i saw a man die here. two kids got into a fight. one of them was massive. 7'1 tall. super buff. wouldn't be out of place in an action movie. and he got into a fight with a smaller kid. and right in front of a crowd. he lifted the kid up and bashed him into the curb. busting his head open. it killed him instantly. it was the most traumatizing thing i had ever seen. do NOT let your kids go here. EVER."
"I was here when I was 14. I was abused wrongfully and restrained so hard my arm almost snapped. Staff are abusive and punish children - not letting them eat when they’re bad. The staff will literally spit on you. I remember those specific faces everyday and I know their names and will continue to remember them until the day I die. Fights daily, if we were on the phone too long they would rip it out of your hands and throw it on the ground. Families should be worried and should get their kids out of that place. It’s not safe, not healthy, and they put the children back into their old habits. There was one man who secretly fed us, did things with us and made it fun and that’s the only reason I liked it there. This place needs to be shut down and reopened with new staff who are children friendly."
"My granddaughter is at this place now and she was doing ok. But they are allowing her to go back to where all of her drugs all started from. Her mother and grandfather both are addicts and now she is allowed to have home visit. Last time I talked to her she was sounding like she did when all this started. Sticking up for there addiction. When she gets out of there, that's where she is planning on going back to. What's wrong with this place. Sending her back to the devils pit."
