Welcome to the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) in Hauppauge, NY!

Located at 415 Oser Avenue, Hauppauge, NY 11788, OPWDD is dedicated to enhancing the lives of New Yorkers with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, Prader-Willi syndrome, and other neurological impairments. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support and services that empower individuals to live fulfilling lives in their communities.

Through a robust network of approximately 500 nonprofit service providers, OPWDD delivers a wide range of services and supports. About 80% of these services are provided by private nonprofits, ensuring a diverse and inclusive approach to care. Our offerings are designed to help individuals find suitable housing, meaningful employment, and opportunities to build lasting community relationships while prioritizing health and wellness.

At OPWDD, we are committed to quality and consistency in the services we provide, working closely with care coordination organizations, family care providers, and care managers. We offer extensive resources, guidance, and training programs, such as the SUNY DSP Microcredential Program, to support direct support professionals and aspiring caregivers.
