"I have been using Dr. Alpern for many years and have found him and his staff---Susie the Manager and Lisa J and Lisa W the office staff to be very friendly, helpful and very accommodating. I stepped in the other day to get copies of my records as I am relocating to another state. I hope to find a great office like theirs where I'm going. I will miss them. Dr. Alpern stopped what he was doing to say goodbye to me and to wish me luck in my move."
"Dr. Alpern is not only professional, but extremely knowledgeable in his field. I appreciate that he discusses all options, communicates and truly cares about the well being of his patients. His office managers are also extremely on top of everything. They are extremely helpful and efficient. Susie has been more than exceptional when it comes to patient care in the office! You can tell they truly care about their patients! From the second I walked into the office I felt welcomed and comforted, which is extremely important to me. I can not recommend enough!"
"Earlier today I found myself sitting in Dr. Alpern's office waiting for someone who is my world to be seen. To put it mildly my universe has been turned upside down for the past week. I am finding it hard to just function. Prior to the doctor entering I believe she was the Nurse, came in and took a history and asked medical questions. Her name is Lisa W. This woman is the most caring, concerned, and empathetic humane being I have ever had the pleasure to have met. She immediately could see how concerned and upset that I was. She did everything she could to put my fears to rest. She listened, rubbed my arm and told me that she is in great hands with this Doctor, and I don't need to worry so much. When she was finished the doctor entered the room and I found him to be extremely knowledgeable and personable. He was a pleasure to deal with and very comforting. He also listened to us and gave us his opinion with the limited information that he had. If the need should ever arise and I hope it never does this is the place to be."
"I cannot say enough good things about Dr Alpern and his staff. I am a fairly new patient and each time I visit the office, I leave even more impressed. The staff is so warm and welcoming and they take their time to answer all of your questions and make you feel at ease when you arrive for your appointment. There is one receptionist, Suzie, who I've had the pleasure of dealing with multiple times. She has been so accommodating and compassionate and has gone above and beyond to help me coordinate appointments for my family and to help me resolve issues I've had with my insurance. Dr Alpern himself, is so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. He has an amazing bedside manner, and makes you truly feel cared about, not just another patient."
"I wanted to wait until I had a complete diagnosis before writing a review on this doctor and I’ve finally got my results back. I saw this Dr in the month of December. I’m 22 years old and I’ve been experiencing extreme gas pains and bloating since around November. I tried every over the counter medicine (including gas-x) as well as at home remedys and a change in diet with no results. I had never been to a GI before so this was a new experience for me. When I got there the women behind the counter were lovely, they took my information and were very kind to me. Then the waiting came, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1 and a half 2 hours. Huh? Never did I expect to wait for a Doctor this long, “This man must be god” I thought as I waited. I began talking to the old couple that was across from me. They had been waiting there longer than I had and began to discuss how they were worried that they wouldn’t be able to drive home because it was getting dark, I felt so bad, they were so sweet. When I FINALLY got in the room after 2 hours of waiting, the nurse comes in and says “The doctor had an emergency and had to run out, he should be back soon”. Okay. 30 minutes go by and I finally meet this man. I was in that room, I kid you not, maybe 10 minutes with him. As he spoke to me, I started to get the feeling that I was being looked down on. He was asking me these questions about my anxiety which I told him I have but I manage pretty well. A week prior, I received a CT scan which he looked at. After telling him all of this and talking about how debilitating this has for me and my quality of life, I really felt like this man did not take me seriously. He didn’t really seem too concerned with my issues, did not take notes, didn’t really talk to me much about my issues really, just told me a story which I can’t remember. Once he finished asking me various, seemingly irrelevant questions, he told me he was going to give me something to help with the gas, I thought great! It’s definitely going to be something heavy duty that I could get from a pharmacy. As I walked out the nurse catches me on the way, she hands me something and says “This is what the doctor recommends for you”, I read it, a post-it note that says “gas-x”. I left work early, wasted a co-pay as well as 2 and a half hours of my life for this man to tell me to take gas-x. After that I never went back and I found a new GI. Absolutely fantastic, in and out in 20 minutes, takes notes everytime I see him. Actually cares about my health! (crazy thought right? ). After several procedures and a hydrogen breath test I finally tested positive for SIBO (Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth). I’m extremely grateful to my current GI and I was absolutely apauled with this one. Apparently, young people cannot have stomach issues according to him. My intelligence was completely insulted as this man proceeded to talk to me like a child and I’ve been anxious ever since to write this review. Do with this information what you will, thank you for reading, cheers to a healthier gut."
