Our Clinical Practice Program (CPP), developed by the Office of Nursing Services (ONS), plays a pivotal role in supporting nursing practice at the point of care. This program encompasses ten specialized Field Advisory Committees (FACs) that include Cardiovascular, Geriatrics and Extended Care, Mental Health, Metabolic Syndrome/Diabetes, Oncology, Perioperative, Polytrauma & Rehabilitation, Emergency Department, Pain Management, and ICU. These committees work in tandem with various VHA program offices to formulate policies and ensure effective communication across the field.

Our Clinical Nurse Advisors, who serve as Subject Matter Experts, are instrumental in guiding these FACs. They work closely with the Chief Nursing Officer to promote best practices that enhance veteran access to care. Led by Suzanne Thorne-Odem, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, the Clinical Practice Program Manager, our team is dedicated to initiatives related to mental health, homelessness, and advanced nursing practices.
