"Was here in march. Got punched by one of the nights by a patient I never talked to. I also refused meds for 2 weeks until they told me that I wouldn’t be let out unless I took them. One of the nights they gave me 7 pills at once and I went blind for a few minutes then threw up more than I ever have. They never gave me that many again. When I got punched, many of the staff laughed in my face about the situation and the same night they gave me a sedative shot just because I wasn’t sleeping. I wasn’t yelling or hitting anything. Simply didn’t want to sleep after getting punched and because of that they forced a shot into me. Quite the traumatic experience can’t lie"
"Firstly, anyone reading this and is looking for help with their mental health please do. I know there are a lot of negative reviews here and I cannot say they are not true but this hospital saved a dear family member. If it was not for this hospital, doctors and nurses (especially nurse Tamden) I would not be leaving this review. It is scary to think about being in a hospital much less one that deals with psychiatry, trust me it is a scary thought but it can save your life and give you a sense of normalcy. I have nothing but positive things to say, calling and speaking to your love one was not an issue and the hospital staff was in constant contact. I would encourage anyone battling mental health to get help no matter what you read online."
"I was in CPEP for about four days. It was the worst four days of my life. First off, they put you in a huge room which is basically the "waiting room" till theres a bed in the ward for you, in this room theres about twelve cot beds lined up in a room and the men and women are separated by a curtain which i thought was weird and unsafe. You are woken up around 8am if not earlier for breakfast then a psychiatrist will see you for about two minutes if not less. In my four days of being at CPEP I never once saw a therapist or someone I can genuinely speak to about my mental health. I was only given meds and told to stay in bed all day. Theres a small television and a chalkboard which is your only source of entertainment. Everyone in there was zombified because of the medication they give everyone. Highly don't recommend this place. Go elsewhere."
"Prison like conditions. Incredibly rude and uncaring staff in the inpatient psych ward, mixing dangerous schizophrenics with less serious cases. When visiting my girlfriend, they literally were on the verge of kicking me out because.... we hugged. The horror! How dare we hug! The whole place is filthy. "Nurses" who act more like prison guards and will straight up lie to you. When I asked to speak to my gf on the phone, they first told me "we'll tell her you called" (they never once told her any of the times I called) and then told me to "call my girlfriend on the phone in her room" and literally gave me the number of a random patient somewhere else in the hospital (psych ward patients don't have phones in their rooms). Gives psych wards a bad rap. Should be shut down immediately. Go anywhere else if you have a choice (Mount Sinai West, NYU Langone, Presbyterian, etc)."
"I need to get basic information on a patient recently admitted, been on the phone for 16 on their line specifically to get information about patients. How in the world does it take more than 16 minutes for them to handle all the questions about current patients? Edit: now its been 30 minutes. 30 minutes to answer a phone! This isn't Bank of America during business hours or the IRS during tax season... this is ridiculous."
