Spectrum Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, LLC Edgewater

"UPDATE: SPECTRUM PHYSICAL THERAPY sent me a letter claiming I published "untruthful and defamatory statements". They also demand that I "cease and desist." At their request, I am now reviewing and updating my review. While it does not contain anything untrue or defamatory (truth is an absolute defense against defamation), I have removed some statements of opinion. And I have added some additional supporting documentation to my review. Giving one star because Google does not allow zero. My partner needed physical therapy, so we verified that Spectrum Physical Therapy and Athletic Training, LLC, in Edgewater was IN-NETWORK. We scheduled an appointment and my partner received a text message confirming an appointment with SPECTRUM PHYSICAL .... Upon arrival for her appointment, my partner was billed for her care through a completely different company: BERGEN COUNTY PHYSICAL THERAPY LLC. I called Spectrum Physical Therapy and inquired about the relationship between the two companies, and the administrator who answered informed me that Bergen Country Physical Therapy was their Out-Of-Network Provider. I asked why they switched her, and she informed me that it was "their choice." I asked what the criteria was for switching her, and she told me she did not know. I asked if the criteria were documented. She said "I don't even know why you're calling me." ("Because this is on my insurance and I am ultimately responsible for it?") NOTE: My partner received a text message from SPECTRUM PHYSICAL THERAPY the night before her appointment, confirming her appointment with the In-Network provider. Told her I'll contact the insurance company. She said "go ahead and do it." So I did. Based on the little information Spectrum Therapy's employee provided, it appears they arbitrarily switch billing at the last possible moment to bill people through their Out-of-Network LLC for some arbitrary reason that only they are aware of. The small amount of information provided by the provider's employee indicated they bait people with an "In-Network" status on the insurance company website and then switch them to an "Out-of-Network" billing company when you go to your appointment. Filed a complaint with the insurance company. They informed that it is dependent on the physical facility in which services were rendered. In this case the facility was the one listed on the In-Network Provider on the insurance company website. The insurance company said the facility for the other LLC was in a town 20 miles north of where she went. Recommended to the insurer in the strongest possible terms that they terminate their relationship with these LLCs immediately. This provider has extremely rude staff, their business model appears to bear a very strong resemblance to a very specific type of business practice in which they lure people in with the promise of "X" and switch them to "Y" with no accountability, and extremely poor customer service. They are completely unable to justify their arbitrary decisions, and actively hostile to customers who ask the most basic questions ("What is the relationship between these two LLCs?", "My partner set up an appointment with SPECTRUM PHYSICAL THERAPY, why is she being billed through BERGEN COUNTY PHYSICAL THERAPY?", etc.) Strongly recommend avoiding this business at all costs."

The atmosphere is calm and relaxing and focused on client recovery. I was in awe of their knowledge. I always felt welcomed. My recovery, always recognized was a bonus."

"Dr. Zaccone and his staff have made me a strong believer in the value of physical therapy. I came to them for two separate conditions, and in both cases, the care they have given me has very signficiantly improved my physical well-being. They are highly skilled, tailoring their care to the needs and abilities of their individual patients. Beyond the work they did with me at their facility, they gave me exercises to do at home and followed up with advice and further suggestions for work I could do on my own even after I had finished with my sessions with them. I only wish that I had gone to them years before I actually did."
