As a family-owned business, we take great pride in our craftsmanship. Recently, we restored an antique Tabriz rug from the 1880s that had a large hole caused by a planter. After resetting the foundation and reweaving the pattern, the repair was virtually invisible, significantly increasing the rug's value from $3,000 to over $12,000.
Our team, led by Wade Shehady and his sisters Pam Smith, Kim Volzer, and Janet Knight, has mastered the art of reweaving, restoring, hand-tying knots, and matching yarns as the original weavers did. Wade, whose roots are Lebanese and Syrian, has over 40 years of experience in cleaning, hand-repairing, restoring, and appraising oriental rugs.
To Wade, fine handwoven rugs are more than just home decorations; they are beautiful images, stories, and history woven into pieces of fine art you can walk on. As we move further into the 21st century, much of the knowledge and history of fine area rugs are being lost. Wade's mission is to preserve this knowledge by sharing it with others through classes on identifying, estimating the age, and repairing rugs.
