Reviews of Cazenovia Creek Nature Sanctuary
"Two benches to sit on are nice but the trail to get down to the creek is overgrown and difficult to access"
"It's absolutely disgraceful! Several people with knowledge and love designed and built this glorious site. They were proudly dedicated to "PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE NATIVE SPECIES." Its written right on the sign! Now it's almost completely overwhelmed by multiple non-native invasive species. Paths are crowded over with thorny multiflora rose. Swamp is choked with yellow flag and phragmites. The ground is thickly carpeted with hydrilla and horse nettle, among others. The water view is mostly blocked and you can't reach the bank. What was once a haven for a wide variety of birds and insects was quiet and empty but for the blackbirds who seem to like the phragmites. The wretched yellow flag was the ONLY flower in sight! Those plants are destroying the native habitat that is required for our wildlife to survive there. The plants will spread to the neighboring properties by seed, by water, and by self-propagation. It is well beyond the scope of a few helping hands now. The Board that took over this park needs to reach out for assistance/guidance from the DEC."
"When first proposed, constructed and planned out ! This was a Great site ! Flowers, trees all labelled, paths and areas adjacent to Cazenovia Creek mowed and carefully designed to showcase this New, Exciting location complete with viewing areas and benches to see the creek ! Wow ! What a Wonderful idea ! Many used,All remarked how beautifully designed and informative this site WAS ! The Emphasis on WAS ! Overgrown,no flowers, paths have been covered over and no more locations to view the creek ! Once was Great ! Now Not So Much ! East Aurora needs to revitalize this area ! Nice signs, not a clean safe path near either sign to view the area or the creek ! Take care of this treasure on South Street !"
"Cute, mostly animal trails but there are paths to the creek."
