"We walked into the store while out running errands and I am so glad we did. Marcie was fantastic in helping us wrap our head around what to even consider in shades for our new home, the pros/cons of different styles & material selections. She worked with us through a few iterations of pricing, and helped us with scheduling for measuring and install. We are so happy with the end result, and found the pricing to be very fair for the quality and custom work we received!"
"I recently had the pleasure of working with Marcie Mann at The Shade Store in Paramus, and I can't say enough good things about her and the experience. Marcie was incredibly helpful, making the entire process easy and straightforward. She was extremely patient with us, taking the time to understand our needs and concerns. After visiting several other blind stores and feeling frustrated with the options, prices, and quality, walking into The Shade Store was a breath of fresh air. The quality of their products is top-notch, and even more impressive is the superior customer service. Marcie went above and beyond by coming out to my house to assess our needs and recommend the best blinds for the issues we were encountering. Her expertise and dedication truly made a difference. Thank you, Marcie, for all your help! You’ve made this a wonderful experience, and we are thrilled with our new blinds."
"We'd been waiting for a few years to replace our window coverings. A few of them broke recently, so we finally decided it was time to replace most or all of them. We drive by The Shade Store when we go grocery shopping, so naturally it was the first place we thought of to start our search. On Monday morning, we walked into The Shade Store with curiosity and a general air of excitement, looking to gather information and get a lay of the land, and maybe even walk out with some ideas. Unfortunately, from the moment I walked in, I was met with total condescension. Jennifer answered my questions with a smile on her face, but I soon realized that most everything she was telling me was meant to steer us out of the store. I felt profiled - as if my age (I'm told I look late 20s) and persona (petite female, no makeup, low-key attire, friendly) disqualified me from being a worthy client. For example, she kept stressing that everything was very expensive and showed me the calculator part of the website because "You might as well see the sticker shock now," followed by "That's only for the drapes; you can double that when you add the hardware." I ignored the red flags in my head and remained polite. I then asked about a beautiful crystal finial, and she connotatively said that they are "very, very expensive," citing a recent client whose project was several thousand dollars in total including $100+ for each finial. Up until this point, I wanted to think she was just trying to be helpful, or that maybe she was having a bad day or just didn't like babies (my husband and our very calm, quiet baby were next to me), but then when her colleague offered to check the price, Jennifer said to her (before I could say yes please), "No, I'm sure she doesn't need to know." And at the end, she hastily took down my name and number and said "Don't worry, I won't be calling you." The truly sad part is, all the prices were pretty much what we expected from our past experiences with window coverings. Although the prices are slightly higher than other retailers, their fabrics are beautiful and, like with any cost-benefit / value judgement, we would've considered paying up if we ended up finding "the one" at The Shade Store. I would've pursued the next steps (follow-up visit to the store, in-home consultation, etc.) had I not been so disappointed and disheartened (and frankly, hurt) by Jennifer's customer service. It is a shame that she judged my life/home/financial situation by my seemingly modest looks to disqualify us as potential customers. I would've appreciated the opportunity to be presented with the facts and to come to our own conclusions. We will not be returning to The Shade Store. P.S. After the fact, we shared our experience with some friends who had also visited The Shade Store during their recent gut renovation. We weren't surprised to learn that they had had a similar negative experience, too. (They recommended Blinds To Go; we'll be checking them out next.)"
"I have used The Shade Store on multiple occasions and I’m blown away each time with their customer service and quality. Carrie Havranek helped me with my latest project and it was recently installed. She was so responsive throughout the process and so patient with all my indecisiveness! The installers John Patrick and Jedediah really went above and beyond! I will absolutely be using them on my next project as well!!"
"It was amazing working with Jen. She helped design our entire house. She scheduled and assisted with all our needs. The blinds look gorgeous."
