"Dereck Acker is your classic shady contractor. Eager to take your deposit and start the job but never finish it. My parents started a job with him in November 2022. It was meant to be completed by May 2023. It is still not done (as of June 2024). What work has been done has been shoddy to say the least. Unlevel floors, poor (or non existent) paint, haphazard electrical, and terrible looking trim. Dereck presents himself as a smooth talking professional. The reality is that can't be farther from the truth. You'll pay an absolute premium for his services (only to be further escalated by change order after change order). Do a little talking around town and it will not at all be difficult to find others experiencing the same. Also be sure to do your research on pending litigation against Straightline. Anyone else notice how Straightline has been "working" on Rosie's 2 for 2 years and it is still not done? I'm happy to sit down and share my family's awful experience with anyone considering Dereck for a job. Dereck has been a family friend for over 15 years and this is what he did to us. I can't imagine what he would do to someone he doesn't even know. Do yourself a favor and run."
