"Bathroom renovation. Started with 2.5 baths with old tile floors & 1970s wallpaper. Contacted 8 different contractors to bid. My mother insisted I call Mario’s since they did the bathroom on her custom build and because they do the tiling for all the high end builders. Mario’s suggested a re-glazing of the tub instead of a replacement and recommended Munro Products. The cost was 1/5 that of a replacement. I did the wallpaper stripping and painting. During the middle of my stripping around the shower, the drywall crumbled and revealed a disgusting rot behind it. At that point I contacted Mario’s and asked them to do the shower as well. Renovation went smoothly. A tub/shower/floor can be done in 4-5 days with one day demo (strip to stud), one day plumbing/wall boarding/subfloor prep, one day tile, one day grouting. The three bathrooms were done over 3 weeks with a total of 14 working days. They offer design options in terms of how you want your tile installed, whether horizontal, vertical, subway style, etc. They will install both outside tile and products that you buy, which is not always the case for other companies. The other tile shop stated they would not install any outside products. The tile they sell is quality but the cheapest started in $5 range. I extensively looked at tile from Home Depot and Lowe’s where the cheapest tile started around $1 but they also had selection going much higher. I bought my tile from Mario’s for several reasons: 1) The quality is guaranteed. Some of the Home Depot tiles that were poorly rated had customers commenting that the tiles kept breaking when the contractor drilled into it. 2) They will order the tile and bring it to site. Each box of tile weighed about 50 lbs. 3) The amount of tile is certain to be adequate. If you are hiring the installation, the tile price becomes less crucial, as the labor is the bulk of the cost. The plumber they use is PCS plumbing, they also partner with someone that does electricity. They offer you the option of using your own plumber, which I would not suggest unless you have a very close relationship with your plumber. Plumbing occurs on day two after the demolition and requires a return visit after the tiling is complete. All work will halt if your plumber is not there in time. In my own case the delayed arrival of the shower pan caused the plumbing to be rescheduled, which Mario’s coordinated with ease. The price of the plumbing seemed above average but was not unreasonable. One of the tilers I contacted stated they would not touch toilets or baseboard. Mario’s will remove and replace toilets for the tile work and do baseboard trim. They don’t do shower doors but recommend someone for the work. Only one installer Mike came and did all three bathrooms by himself, including all demo, tiling, drywall and trim work. He said he’s been doing this type of work for 30 years. The tiling speaks for itself in the photos. The wood trim done on the last day is utterly magnificent. The photos cannot capture the richness of the stains and details of the wood grain that were brought out. My mother has overseen several renovations and builds and says she never knew trim could look this good. I joked with Patty at the shop that it doesn’t match the rest of the house since the trim everywhere else looks far more shabby. Price is not cheap but it is reasonable. You may not understand this until you get several quotes from others. They did not charge extra for changing the rotting insulation or the drywall repairs that were needed after extensive damage was found. Estimates are free and they will come to your house for a measuring for an accurate quote. It did take about three weeks and three follow up phone calls for the first estimate to arrive. Patty was very helpful throughout the process and the other ladies Anna and Fernanda were helpful in the selection of tile and guided me away from any mismatching choices."
"Nice variety. Staff seems very knowledgeable and helpful when selecting tiles. Would definitely recommend."
"FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE! I had purchased tile at Mario's over the years, but never knew they did remodeling/installation. Just by a fluke I had heard that they offered the complete job: tile, remodeling, and plumbing. Patty from the Harlem Road store helped up choose our tile and did a great job, she was very helpful. The quality of their work was impeccable, and we're very discriminating customers. Their installer, Shawn, did a great job and helped us make design decisions while installing. I would suggest anyone who wants a high quality of work, at a reasonable price, completed within a shockingly short time frame; contact Mario's today!"
"Went to a few of the bigger “tile shops” to get some ideas with no help at all, decided to stop by Mario’s in Cheektowaga on our way through. Picked out a few tiles and brought home. We were able to return the samples to the West Seneca location which is closer. Decided on a tile and had an appointment set up for estimate. Went beautifully, day of installation went perfectly. All the employees were fantastic and helpful. The tile floor is everything I hoped for and more. From choosing tile at the store (Fernanda) to the installer, everything was top notch! If your thinking of any type of tile, do yourself a favor, stop at Mario’s and give them a try"
"Excellent work taking down old, mirrored kitchen backsplash and installing new tile! A special thank you to Fernanda and Patty who were a pleasure to work with. Our installer, Mike, was professional and demonstrated perfectionism even to the smallest of details. He did an excellent job that we are extremely happy with. Have worked with Mario's in the past and will again in the future!"
