Cortland County DMV,

"Three times within a few months we went to Cortland DMV and were told that they couldn't help us, or that we had to jump through massive hoops to get our paperwork completed. Very unhelpful. One of the instances we had a receipt from a vehicle purchased in California, from a dealer! and they refused to accept it as a receipt. On the advice of a friend we went to the DMV in Ithaca and they were able to help us with absolutely no problem or hoops. I feel like the unhelpfulness in Cortland trickles down from the top. I will not use Cortland DMV for any of my needs, and will instead head to Ithaca. There is literally no reason that Cortland DMV could not have helped us."

"Filthy, nasty, rotten attitudes. Hostile, incompetent dolts work here. If you must go to a DMV, I recommend you go to Ithaca or Auburn or someplace else where they don't seem to hate their jobs/lives. How is a DMV issued ID not an acceptable document to prove your identity at the DMV? That's nucking futs! What a joke. I'd give them negative 5 stars if I could. I went to the Ithaca location and the lady actually LISTENED to me and helped me out without any trouble or grief. Cortland County DMV, you need to do better! Retrain your staff or hire all anew. Those employees are too comfortable with themselves because of the job security they have. If one of my employees talked to a customer the way I was spoken to today, said employee wouldn't have a job by the end of the day. You shouldn't reward bad behavior with an easy job and a healthy paycheck. I can see why you are the lowest rated DMV in the state. YOU NEED TO DO BETTER!!!!!"

"I have now been to this DMV twice in the last month and both were WONDERFUL experiences. My husband and I just moved here a month ago and needed our licenses - we went at 9 am on Jan 2 and were helped immediately. Lance was so patient and politely explained everything. Amanda also helped us and was quick, efficient, and precise. I also loved that they let us stay together as all of our paperwork was together. We just went back three days ago and had again a great experience. A few more people in line this time, but we were still helped quickly. We had to upgrade my husband's license and register our cars - this visit was a bit more detailed but still took hardly any time at all. In our former state of SC, a DMV trip is a six hour ordeal dealing with rude people and requiring a sedative lol. Not here. Both times we were helped by Lance and Amanda and the second time we were also helped by Mariah - all three were polite and easy to work with. Thanks for the great welcome to NY, Cortland DMV!"
