"I think the Town of Islip needs to look up the word “abandoned” because having a car that I own and paid for in full in front of MY house is not abandonment and should not be illegal. Busted engine and no space in the driveway for it. Am I supposed to keep paying car insurance and registration fees just so the town doesn’t impound my vehicle that I own outright? It was in no way obstructing traffic. They also do this WITH NO NOTICE which is also somehow legal to do. The tow truck just shows up and takes your car. The woman I spoke with at the office was incredibly rude and condescending. I had to pry information from her instead of her providing me instructions out right when I asked her what my next steps are. I had to ask her multiple questions to get any information on how to get my car back, where to go, and any documents I need to bring. The Town of Islip will do anything to make a quick buck off of you and will make it extremely difficult to fight anything."
"I travel all over this beautiful country and I've never seen such a money-grab racket like the parking gestapo present in Islip. They have absolutely no public garages (Paid) or meter parking anywhere near the hospital I'm here to support. Hospital has no public parking aside from the ER which be be kept available. Really great service you provide to visitors, Islip. Remind me never to return. I feel horrible for the people who need to deal with this nonsense regularly. I can't finish this assignment fast enough. Takes me over 45 mins of driving around the hospital and side roads to find a spot. But rest assured.... if you make a mistake they'll collect their check within minutes. How about funneling some of that money into paid parking structures instead of town officials pockets?!? I know, I know... too much to ask!!"
"This Town is ridiculous, I had my car parked in the street with no plates in front of my house & they impounded it on 10/6. I’m guessing over the weekend while it was there people broke into the lot & broke into my car broke the passenger side window an stole my catalytic converter. Horrible on the town. Could’ve left my car at my house & it would’ve been safe."
"This is such a shame that our town cannot find a way to run a department effectively. Between the taxes we pay and the lack of services and the exorbitant fees for unfounded tickets, parks fees, horrible roads, litter, and just plain mismanagement. I am embarrassed by our current town leadership! Things are disgusting and non supportive!"
"Crooked town. Wrote me three tickets in 3 days at Ronkonkoma train station for an inspection sticker that was 2 days past due. I got the inspection completed within the same week and disputed the tickets. They never responded to my dispute, proceeded to increased all tickets to 270$ each with their rediculous fees, then blocked my registration with DMV. I reached out to the office numerous times which was closed due to Covid. This was all during the peak of Covid, when I was risking my life to keep my family fed and warm. They are crooks, they are rude. I’m considering taking legal steps to deter something similar from happening again."
